The new Chairman of the Federal Reserve, Kevin Warsh, got paid a hundred million dollars right before he took office, and he will not say who paid him.

“Who gave you $100 million right before you were sworn in?” she asked. “Was it a billionaire who has business with the Fed? Was it Stanley Druckenmiller, who’s made billions of dollars betting on what the Fed does?”

Simple question. Four-second answer, if you’re innocent. Here’s what she got instead. He has “fully honored his obligations” to the Office of Government Ethics. He has “reached a full agreement” with ethics officials. She asked again. Full agreement. Obligations. Honored. She asked if he’d at least say HOW he divested. More oatmeal. “I’ll take that as a no,” she said, because what the hell else do you say to a man doing a filibuster impression of a photocopier.

Let me walk you through the grift, because it’s beautiful in the way a car crash is beautiful. Warsh owned $100 million-plus in two private investment funds, the Juggernaut Funds and THSDFS LLC, which is not a name, it’s a keyboard smash with a bank account. He refused to tell the Senate what was in them. Then, days before taking office, he “sold his shares.” Sold them. To someone. Someone who wrote him a check for over a hundred million dollars at the exact moment he became the most powerful banker on the planet. And that someone’s name is a secret. From you. The person whose mortgage, rent, credit card, and grocery bill this man now controls.

Oh, and the Druckenmiller thing? Warren didn’t pull that name out of a hat. Warsh WORKED for Druckenmiller. Went straight from the Fed to Druckenmiller’s family office in 2011, and the Juggernaut Fund is linked to Druckenmiller’s shop.

And who appointed this guy? Trump. Of course Trump. The president who ran on draining the swamp appointed a nine-figure Wall Street creature married to an Estée Lauder heiress, a man worth somewhere between $130 and $226 million (the disclosure forms are so vague that the ERROR BAR on his wealth is a hundred million dollars, which should tell you everything about the disclosure forms), and the “Republican” Senate waved him through.

(Not knocking them. You do you. This is America ((for now)). We are simply polar opposites, and frankly they’re more honest about the wig.)

Now the big question, the one nobody in Washington will ask out loud, so I will. Why the hell is a man with a hundred million dollars working in government? Why are BILLIONAIRES working in government? These people do not need jobs. They do not need salaries. They will never need anything again for a thousand generations. There is exactly ONE thing a government office offers a man who already has everything, and that thing is POWER. The power to move markets. The power to reward friends. The power to make himself and his buddies EVEN RICHER. That is why they’re there. That is the ONLY reason they’re there. Nobody leaves a beach in the Hamptons to “serve” you. They leave it to farm you.

This is crony capitalist corruption, naked, in daylight, with a Senate stenographer typing it all down, and it is happening under the most corrupt government in the history of the United States. Right now. This one. These are men and women who care NOTHING about the United States beyond the fact that a dollar bill has “United States” printed on it. And people like that always, ALWAYS have a price.

That’s the part that should keep you up at night. Not Warsh specifically. The lesson. Because every crook in Washington watched that hearing and learned it. You can take the money. You can get caught. You can sit in front of a United States Senator, get asked point blank about a nine-figure payday, weasel your way through it with “I complied with the ethics office,” and NOTHING HAPPENS. No follow-up. No subpoena. No consequences. Warren told him the tone he’s setting “seems to invite corruption.” Senator, with respect, corruption isn’t invited. Corruption is sitting in the chairman’s seat.

This is disgusting. I don’t have a smarter word for it and I refuse to go find one. A man took a hundred million dollars from a hidden hand, took control of your money, and told your representatives to pound sand. In any diner in America, we know what you call money you can’t explain. Washington calls it a ‘divestiture’.

The bank he came from got saved by the institution he sat in. Your house got a foreclosure notice.

Track Three, “Wrong (The Extended Remix).” He warned in 2008 that rate cuts would ignite inflation. They didn’t. He warned in 2010 that stimulus would ignite inflation. It didn’t. He was the lone Fed official to fight the 2011 recovery efforts. When his predicted inflation never showed up, he didn’t apologize, he just invented new reasons to keep being wrong, producing work Larry Summers called “the single most confused analysis of monetary policy that I have read this year.” That man now runs the money supply.

Track Four, “The Weathervane.” After a career spent screaming that easy money is poison, Warsh discovered, the moment Trump dangled the chairmanship, that Trump is right and rates should come down. Amazing what a job offer does for a man’s economics.

Track Five, “The Family Business.” His wife is worth an estimated $1.9 billion. His father-in-law is Ronald Lauder, the $4.9 billion Trump classmate and donor credited with planting the Greenland idea in Trump’s head. His decade-long patron is Stanley Druckenmiller. The chairman of your central bank is a group project by billionaires.

Track Six, “Don’t Ask, Won’t Tell.” At his hearing he refused to state that Trump lost the 2020 election. In July, asked whether he’d even QUESTIONED his own vice chair about reportedly dining privately with bankers during a Fed blackout period, he stonewalled that too. Warren’s verdict from the dais was that his tone “seems to invite corruption.” The Senate confirmed him anyway, 54 to 45, right down the party line.

In 2003, federal agents arrested Martha Stewart for selling four thousand shares of a biotech stock based on a tip from her broker. The trade saved her about forty five thousand dollars. She did five months in a West Virginia federal prison, and the judge said the sentence was necessary to send a message about insider trading.

The message was received by every American in the country, except for five hundred and thirty six of them. Those five hundred and thirty six work in the same air-conditioned building in Washington. None of them have ever spent a night in West Virginia federal lockup. The reason is that they WROTE THE LAW that put Martha there, and they wrote it in such a way that it would never apply to them. While Martha was peeling potatoes in a federal cafeteria, the Speaker of the House at the time, the future President, and the chairman of Senate Intelligence were running the same scheme on a scale a thousand times larger, and the worst thing that has ever happened to any of them is a sternly worded letter from a Senator nobody listens to.

Or take the President. In April 2025, with markets in free fall over his own tariffs, the man posted “THIS IS A GREAT TIME TO BUY!!!” on his social media platform at 9:37 in the morning. Four hours later he announced the tariff pause that made the post print. His family company gained four hundred and fifteen million dollars in his trust before sundown. To put that in Martha Stewart units, that is roughly NINE THOUSAND MARTHAS, accomplished in one afternoon, by typing on a phone. He walks free.

Or take Senator Richard Burr, who in February 2020 walked out of a closed door classified pandemic briefing, sold thirty three different stocks the same day, and told the country on Fox News that everything was fine. He walks free, on the strength of an investigation that the Department of Justice opened, looked at, and quietly closed, like a man peeking into the wrong hotel room and tiptoeing back into the hallway.

Welcome to The $200 Class.

The $200 Class is what I am calling the people in Washington who use their inside information about laws, wars, pandemics, and federal contracts to get rich on the stock market, while the worst punishment they ever face is a two hundred dollar slap on the wrist for filing their paperwork late. Members of Congress. Their spouses. The President. His family. The senators sitting on intelligence committees who walk out of classified briefings and call their broker before lunch. They were doing it long before 2012, when Washington pretended to outlaw it by passing a law that fined them two hundred dollars and called it accountability. They are still doing it. They are getting richer at it every year. And the law against it, which they wrote, makes sure none of them ever sees the inside of a courtroom, let alone a prison cell.

Here is how they pulled it off.

The Law They Wrote To Protect Themselves

The membership card to The $200 Class is a piece of legislation called the STOCK Act. Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge. Passed in 2012 with great fanfare. Both parties voted for it. The President signed it on the White House lawn. Cable news called it a victory for accountability, and the country breathed a small sigh of relief.

The country should not have breathed.

Here is what the STOCK Act actually says. Members of Congress must disclose their stock trades within forty five days. The penalty for missing the deadline is two hundred dollars. That’s it. That is the entire enforcement mechanism. No prison. No felony. No SEC enforcement division knocking on doors. Two hundred dollars, the same fine for letting your dog poop on a federal sidewalk in Washington DC. Your dog and your senator have, under federal law, EXACTLY THE SAME EXPOSURE to financial consequences for selling out the American people.

This is not a loophole. This is not an oversight. This is the DESIGN. They wrote the law against the thing they were doing, set the punishment at the cost of dinner at Olive Garden, and handed enforcement to a Justice Department whose senior staff serves at the pleasure of the same lawmakers committing the crime. They did this on purpose, in public, in front of cameras, while wearing American flag pins.

In the THIRTEEN YEARS since the STOCK Act passed, the number of members of Congress prosecuted under it is exactly zero. ZERO. The same DOJ that put a sixty one year old woman in a federal cell over forty five thousand dollars has, for thirteen years running, looked at the most well documented insider trading scheme in American history and decided it was a paperwork issue.

Meanwhile, the SEC has been very busy with everyone else. The SEC prosecuted teenagers in basements for trades worth less than a used car. The SEC fined Kim Kardashian over a million dollars for promoting a crypto token without disclosing she was paid. The SEC has prosecuted secretaries who overheard their bosses on the phone, IT contractors who saw something on a screen, friends of friends of corporate executives who got tipped over a beer. The SEC has time and resources for secretaries, IT contractors, teenagers, and reality TV stars. The SEC has not, in thirteen years, found time for a single sitting member of Congress.

This is not negligence. This is TREASON against the equal application of the law, executed in slow motion, in public, by the people sworn to defend the Constitution. Now meet the people the SEC cannot find time for.

Receipt One. The Former Speaker’s Husband, Apparently A Stock Picking Genius

Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi technically does not own stocks. Her husband Paul does, and Paul, by an extraordinary statistical fluke, has spent the last decade making trades that surge right before legislation his wife votes on, schedules, or shapes. The pattern starts to feel less like luck and more like geometry.

In November 2023, Paul Pelosi bought fifty Nvidia call options at a $120 strike, a position trade trackers pinned at around $1.8 million. By summer it was up roughly four million dollars. He sold ten thousand Nvidia shares on December 31, 2024. Less than a month later, on January 27, 2025, Nvidia cratered seventeen percent in a single day, erasing close to SIX HUNDRED BILLION DOLLARS from the market in the largest single-day market value loss in U.S. history. The Pelosi household exited weeks before the cliff. Coincidence is doing some lifting in a gym it has never visited. Paul did the same thing with Visa stock one month before the DOJ filed antitrust charges against Visa, and again with Google stock one month before the DOJ sued Google. The pattern is not occasional. The pattern is monthly. Either Paul Pelosi is the GREATEST STOCK PICKER IN HUMAN HISTORY, or somebody has been talking shop at the dinner table. There is no third option.

Pelosi’s office says she does not own stocks personally and has no involvement in her husband’s trades. The Pelosis do, however, share a house in San Francisco. Under our current legal definitions, sharing a house with one of the most powerful members of Congress for the last thirty years counts as a Chinese wall as long as everyone agrees to look at the floor when the topic comes up over the green beans.

Receipt Two. The President Who Posted The Stock Tip On The Internet

If the Pelosi case is corruption hidden behind a husband, the next case is corruption POSTED ON THE INTERNET, IN PUBLIC, IN ALL CAPS, BY THE HEAD OF STATE.

April 9, 2025. Markets in free fall over the President’s own tariffs. At 9:37 AM eastern, the President of the United States posted to his social media platform: THIS IS A GREAT TIME TO BUY!!! DJT. Three hours and forty one minutes later, he announced a ninety day pause on those tariffs. The market exploded. Trump Media, ticker DJT, the same DJT he had signed his post with, closed up nearly twenty two percent. The President’s stake, held in trust by his oldest son, gained FOUR HUNDRED AND FIFTEEN MILLION DOLLARS in value before the closing bell.

The head of state posted a public buy signal four hours before he took the action that made it correct, and his family trust gained nearly half a billion dollars before the markets closed. This is not subtle. This is not legally ambiguous. This is the plot of every corruption movie you have ever watched, except the corrupt official is the President of the United States and the corruption is happening on his phone in front of his nine point four million followers in real time.

Legal experts cited by PBS, NPR, and TIME pointed out that this is, technically, not insider trading because the buy signal was technically public. A public president posting a public stock tip on a public platform four hours before publicly making the publicly market moving announcement is, technically, just somebody who is publicly very good at picking days. (His batting average on this is suspiciously high. Pitchers with this batting average get drug tested. Presidents apparently get re-elected.)

If you ran a pump and dump that wiped out eight hundred thousand retail investors, the SEC would be at your door before dinner. The President runs the same play with his family name on the token, and the only consequence is a crypto trade press article.

If your dad still tells you Trump is draining the swamp, this is the section to send him. The swamp is fine. The swamp has its own helicopter.

Receipt Three. The Senators Who Used Pandemic Intelligence As A Stock Tip

The Pelosi case is corruption behind a marriage. The Trump case is corruption on the internet. The third case is corruption that walked directly out of a SERIES OF GOVERNMENT BRIEFINGS, including classified intelligence reports, and into a brokerage account, in a moment when honest information might have saved hundreds of thousands of American lives.

January 24, 2020. Senators received an all-senators briefing on the new virus from China, with CDC Director Robert Redfield and Dr. Anthony Fauci. Throughout late January and early February, members of the Senate Intelligence Committee, where Senator Richard Burr was chair, received additional classified briefings about the virus and its likely impact. The picture available to senators in those rooms was sharply different from the one being painted for the public. Several senators, both parties, started selling.

Senator Richard Burr, who at the time chaired the Senate Intelligence Committee, sold thirty three different stocks in one day. (If there is one position in the Senate that should NOT involve insider trading, it is the one literally named “Intelligence.” This is the kind of thing that, in a country with a functioning legal system, would be a screenplay. In our country, it was a Tuesday.) The same week, on Fox News, Burr assured the public that “the United States today is better prepared than ever before” for emerging health threats. His brother in law, who served on the federal National Mediation Board, sold tens of thousands of dollars in stock the same day Burr did. Either he was psychic, or the brothers in law spend a lot of time on the phone.

Senator Kelly Loeffler, whose husband Jeffrey Sprecher was at the time chairman of the New York Stock Exchange (yes, that New York Stock Exchange, this is the actual ownership structure of American capital markets, not a typo), began selling stock the same day she walked out of the January 24 briefing. Her household executed twenty seven transactions valued between $1.275 million and $3.1 million between January 24 and February 14. She also bought shares in Citrix, a remote work software company, which is the kind of investment you make WHEN YOU HAVE JUST BEEN BRIEFED ON A GLOBAL LOCKDOWN. Senators Dianne Feinstein and James Inhofe also dumped significant holdings in the same window. The FBI seized Burr’s phone in May 2020. The DOJ opened investigations on all four senators. The DOJ then quietly closed all four investigations. Nobody went to jail. Nobody paid a meaningful fine. Burr stepped down from chairing Senate Intelligence as a “gesture,” which is bureaucratic Latin for “I am very sorry I got caught.”

Now hold both halves of this in your head at the same time. While the senators were dumping their hotel stocks, your grandmother was being told to stockpile canned soup. While the chairman of Senate Intelligence was selling thirty three positions, the country was heading into the largest mass casualty event since the Civil War. While the DOJ was quietly closing the investigations, the SAME DOJ was prosecuting truck drivers and IT contractors for insider trading on tips they overheard at work.

This is not corruption. Corruption is a side hustle. THIS IS THE JOB.

The Bill That Would Stop This Keeps Mysteriously Dying

If you are still wondering whether all of this is being done deliberately, the next part removes any remaining doubt.

There is a bill that would actually ban this. It is called the PELOSI Act. Senator Josh Hawley has introduced it three times. The latest version cleared a Senate committee in July 2025 by an 8 to 7 vote. Of the eight Republicans on the committee, exactly ONE voted yes. The one was Hawley, the man who wrote it. Senator Rick Scott, with a personal net worth above five hundred million dollars, voted no, saying “this idea that we are going to attack people because they make money is wrong.” (The bill, to be clear, does not prohibit anyone from making money. It prohibits members of Congress from making money through INSIDER TRADING. The fact that Senator Scott considered this an “attack” tells you exactly how he is making his money.)

President Trump initially said he would sign it. TWENTY FOUR HOURS after the committee vote, he was on Truth Social attacking Hawley as a “second-tier senator” being used as a Democrat “pawn.” The bill went back into the drawer where bills go to die.

The teams are part of the trick. The teams exist so you have someone to cheer for while you are getting robbed. Both teams are owned by the same coaches. The coaches are getting rich. The coaches are also, you may have noticed, BUILDING BUNKERS.

The Bunkers Are The Confession

In March 2020, Elon Musk was worth twenty four billion dollars. He is now worth over EIGHT HUNDRED BILLION. That happened in six years. Nothing he built explains it. No product, no factory, no patent. The number went up because the people in Washington who write the rules let it go up, the same way they let Paul Pelosi’s options print, the same way they let the President post a buy signal on his phone four hours before moving the market himself. Connected men get rich. Everyone else gets a 23 percent pay cut and told it is the other team’s fault.

We Owe China

The federal government owes thirty eight trillion dollars. We pay nearly a trillion a year just on interest, more than the entire military budget, and a quarter of that money goes overseas to creditors who do not love us. The biggest of those creditors is China.

The doctrine says, in plain Mandarin, that a financial attack on a country counts as war. China considers our debt their weapon. They have said so out loud. PLA officers have threatened, on the record, to dump US Treasuries when the political winds shift. We have known this for twenty five years. We borrow from them anyway, more every quarter, because the men in charge get paid the day the money lands and they do not plan to be home when the bill comes.

We are already running out of room. Interest payments are about to swallow the entire discretionary budget. Your Social Security trust fund goes insolvent in 2032, six years from now, and the law automatically cuts every retirement check by twenty three percent the day it does. The day after that, the next payment to Beijing comes due, and one of these years, we are going to miss it. China’s doctrine says that is when the war begins.

The Day The Sirens Go

This is the day. Your phone buzzes with an EAS alert. The sirens go in your town. Chinese drone swarms cross the horizon because we missed an interest payment and Beijing’s military doctrine says financial default is an act of war and they have been ready for this since 1999.

The President is in Raven Rock, six hundred feet underground, behind a blast door you paid for. Your senator is on a private jet to Lanai. Your congressman is in a hardened federal complex in Pennsylvania you have never heard of and were never supposed to. Mark Zuckerberg is in Kauai behind concrete. Peter Thiel is in New Zealand. Larry Ellison is on his island.

You are on your lawn looking up.

Your kids are next to you.

The bunkers are not for you. They were never for you. They were built with your taxes for the men who sold you out so they could survive the burning of the country they sold. Every Republican who told you to trust them and every Democrat who told you to trust them ran the same scam from opposite sides of the same field, and on the day the bombs fall they will be in the same room underground laughing about which crowd was easier to fool.

You will be on the lawn.

I kept thinking about that movie this week while I was reading SEC filings and semiconductor supply chain reports instead of studying for finals, which is not how most journalism students spend their Saturday nights but most journalism students aren’t writing for an independent publication that covers things the mainstream press won’t touch, so here we are.

Everybody thinks the war in Iran is about oil. Every cable news segment is about gas prices. Every pundit on every channel is standing in front of a graphic of an oil barrel explaining how the Strait of Hormuz closure is going to affect the price of filling up your F-150. And that story makes sense if you don’t think about it for more than thirty seconds, because the Strait of Hormuz handles a huge percentage of global oil traffic and shutting it down does make oil more expensive. But here’s the thing that

nobody on cable news seems to want to mention: the United States produces 13.58 million barrels of oil per day, more than any country on Earth. We just took Venezuela and its 303 billion barrels of reserves. Canada has 163 billion more next door. America does not NEED Middle Eastern oil. We haven’t needed it for years. The shale boom made us energy independent and the Venezuela operation sealed it.

So if the war isn’t about oil for America, what is it about?

Helium. The gas that fills birthday balloons and makes your voice sound like a chipmunk at parties. That’s what 99% of Americans know about helium. Here is what 99% of Americans do NOT know: helium is the single most critical input in the fabrication of every advanced semiconductor chip on the planet and there is NO SUBSTITUTE for it. None. Zero. Not one. Every chip in your phone, your laptop, your car, your hospital’s MRI machine, every Nvidia GPU powering AI, every piece of high-bandwidth memory in every data center on Earth requires helium to manufacture. During the lithography process that etches circuits onto silicon wafers, fabs blow helium over the back of the wafer to maintain temperature uniformity so the etching doesn’t warp. During vacuum chamber testing, helium is used for leak detection because it’s the smallest element that exists and if helium can’t escape, nothing can. The purity requirement is 99.9999%, which the industry calls “6N,” and if you’re wondering whether you can just use birthday balloon helium, you cannot, in the same way that you cannot perform open heart surgery with a butter knife. There are only a handful of facilities on Earth that can produce helium at this purity. And the biggest one just got hit by a missile.

Qatar’s Ras Laffan Industrial City produced approximately one-third of the world’s helium supply, roughly 2.4 billion standard cubic feet per year, as a byproduct of liquid natural gas processing. On March 2, 2026, Iranian missiles hit the facility. QatarEnergy shut everything down and declared force majeure. On March 18-19, more missiles hit, causing what QatarEnergy called “extensive damage.” Fourteen percent of Qatar’s helium capacity is PERMANENTLY destroyed with a reconstruction timeline of up to FIVE YEARS. The planned Helium 4 plant, which would have been the largest helium facility ever built, is delayed indefinitely. Helium spot prices have doubled. Contract surcharges are up 70-100%. And here’s the detail that makes this a ticking clock instead of just a supply disruption: liquid helium in transport containers starts to evaporate after 35 to 48 days. There are containers of helium stranded right now in the Persian Gulf that were bound for South Korea and Taiwan, and every day they sit there, the helium inside them is disappearing into the atmosphere, permanently, because once helium escapes into the air, it rises to the top of the atmosphere and leaves Earth forever. It does not come back. It is the only element that does this.

South Korea imported 65% of its helium from Qatar in 2025. Taiwan imported 69% from Gulf countries. Samsung and SK Hynix, which together produce roughly two-thirds of the world’s memory chips, are in South Korea. TSMC, which makes the logic chips for basically everything, is in Taiwan and imports 97% of its energy and holds only 11 days of gas reserves. These are the companies that manufacture EVERY Nvidia GPU, EVERY AMD AI accelerator, EVERY Google TPU. Over $200 billion has been wiped off Samsung and SK Hynix’s combined market value since the war started. The entire Western AI infrastructure buildout, the trillion-plus dollars that hyperscalers like Google and Microsoft and Amazon are spending on data centers, depends on chips that depend on helium that is currently evaporating in stranded containers in a war zone.

China has a domestic helium plant in Guangdong province that just received 6N purity certification and is an approved supplier for ASML, the company that makes the lithography machines. Chinese domestic helium production is small right now, 1.2 million cubic meters in a market measured in billions, but it is growing fast, specifically BECAUSE of this crisis, which accelerated investment. China is also negotiating the Power of Siberia 2 pipeline, which would deliver Russian LNG directly into China, bypassing the Strait of Hormuz entirely. This pipeline has been stalled for years over price disputes, but China now has enormous leverage because they desperately need to diversify off Qatar and Russia desperately needs a buyer. If that pipeline gets done, and there is every indication it will, China secures both its own helium supply AND its own energy supply, which means it can build a fully independent, fully native chip fabrication stack while Taiwan and South Korea starve.

CNBC ran a headline on April 10, 2026: “How Russia could profit from Iran war helium supply chain disruption in the chip sector.” Russia profits. China profits. The Western semiconductor supply chain burns. And the country that started the war, the United States of America, is the country whose allies are getting destroyed by it.

Speaking of people who seem to know what’s going to happen before it happens: on March 23, 2026, $580 million in oil futures trades were placed in a 15-minute window starting at 6:49 AM, fifteen minutes before Trump posted on Truth Social that he was pausing strikes on Iran. Trading volume at 6:50 AM was six times the normal volume. Rep. Ritchie Torres called it potentially “one of the largest instances of insider trading in history.” His exact words: “The only plausible answer to that question is an insider trader. Any other alternative is a statistical impossibility.” It happened AGAIN on April 7 when fifty newly created Polymarket accounts (Polymarket is funded in part by Donald Trump Jr.) bet heavily on a ceasefire before it was announced. The White House responded by sending a staff-wide email warning employees not to insider trade, which is the kind of email you send AFTER someone already did it. Meanwhile, Jared Kushner, one of Trump’s Iran envoys, is simultaneously raising billions for his private equity fund from Persian Gulf governments entangled in the war. And the DOJ Public Integrity Section, the office created after Watergate specifically to prosecute corrupt officials, has been reduced from 36 lawyers to two. The cop shop is closed. On purpose.

Avanti Helium, a tiny Canadian exploration company, is up nearly 300% in 2026. Pulsar Helium is up 150%. Desert Mountain Energy is up over 100%. These are micro-cap stocks that most financial journalists couldn’t find on a map. Nobody is scrutinizing their trading records. Nobody is checking who bought shares in January and February before the missiles started flying. Nobody is asking whether accounts connected to people with advance knowledge of the Iran operation quietly loaded up on the one commodity that would skyrocket once the bombs started dropping on Ras Laffan.

And then there’s Rep. Ro Khanna, who sat on the AI Caucus and the High Tech Caucus and the Antitrust Caucus, which are the committees that would have had briefings about semiconductor supply chain vulnerabilities. In late 2025, before the war, Khanna aggressively sold his positions in ASML Holdings (makes the EUV machines that need helium), Micron Technologies (makes memory chips that need helium), and Ultra Clean Holdings (semiconductor equipment). He dumped the exact stocks that would be most damaged by a helium shortage, months before a helium shortage happened. Was it insider trading? Can’t prove it. Was it the most convenient timing in the history of congressional stock sales? You tell me.

I am going to make a prediction. Within 12 months, someone is going to pull the trading records on these helium micro-caps and find a pattern of suspicious purchases in January and February 2026 by accounts connected to people who had advance knowledge of the Iran operation. I am a journalism student finishing my degree while writing for an independent publication that doesn’t have a legal department, a corporate sponsor, or a single editor who went to Columbia. I am not the person who should be figuring this out. I should be the tenth person to report on it after the Wall Street Journal and Reuters and Bloomberg already broke the story. But they’re not looking. They’re writing about oil prices. Because that’s the story everyone already understands and the helium story requires you to explain something complicated to an audience that thinks helium is for balloons.

So I’m telling you now, before the financial press catches up: the war in Iran is not about oil. It is about who controls the supply chain that makes the computers that will run the world for the next fifty years. And right now, the only country positioned to control that supply chain is China. Every piece of this benefits China. The helium shortage. The energy disruption. The stranded supply chain. The gutted enforcement. The insider trading. The pipeline. The domestic helium program. All of it. Every single piece.

Is this incompetence? Or is someone 5,000 miles east of the Strait of Hormuz smiling right now?

Paper Is Worthless Until You Trick Enough People Into Disagreeing

Here is a question that will ruin your afternoon. Why is money worth anything?

Not gold. Gold I understand. Gold is shiny, it doesn’t corrode, there’s a limited amount of it, and humans have been killing each other over it for about six thousand years, which is as close to a universal endorsement as anything gets. Gold makes sense.

Paper money does not make sense. Paper money is paper. You can write on it. You can blow your nose with it (don’t). You can fold it into a little hat for your cat. As a physical object, a dollar bill is worth approximately nothing. The paper itself costs the government about 7 cents to print. The rest of its value, the part that separates a hundred dollar bill from a very small napkin, exists entirely because millions of people agreed to pretend it’s real.

That’s it. That’s the whole trick. Enough people looked at a piece of paper and said “this is worth something” and then it was. Not because of the paper. Not because of the ink. Because of the looking. Because of the believing. The collective observation of millions of sentient beings literally willed value into existence where there was none.

If that isn’t magic, I don’t know what is.

Cryptocurrency, or How We Cast a Spell Using Math Homework

And then we went and did it again, except dumber.

At least paper money has the decency to exist as a physical object. You can touch it. You can lose it in the couch. It has weight and texture and that weird smell that is apparently a combination of ink, cotton, and the hands of every person who has ever used a vending machine. Cryptocurrency doesn’t even have that. Cryptocurrency is a series of ones and zeros stored on a computer. It is the digital record of a solved math problem. It is, and I need you to really sit with this, a receipt for homework.

And it’s worth more than the computer it lives on.

Bitcoin, as of right now, is worth tens of thousands of dollars per unit. Per solved math problem. There are people who have become millionaires because they convinced a graphics card to do algebra faster than the next guy’s graphics card. The combined energy consumption of Bitcoin mining rivals that of some small countries. We are burning enough electricity to power Argentina so that computers can do long division and produce imaginary money that only exists because enough people squinted at it and said “yeah, that’s currency.”

Millions of human beings observed this concept. They believed in it. And their belief made it real. Paper into gold. Math homework into a Lamborghini. Ones and zeros into a down payment on a house. The raw material is worthless. The magic is in the watching.

I Recognized This Trick When I Was Twenty-One

When I was 21, taking a few psych classes at the same college Jim Morrison attended in St. Pete, Florida, I found a book called The Secret sitting in the campus library. Most kids my age were reading normal things. I was already deep into religious and occult studies because I am a complete weirdo who believes in God, takes Scripture literally, and decided at a young age that I wanted to understand my enemy, which meant reading things that would have given my Sunday school teacher a stroke.

So I picked up The Secret and recognized it immediately. It was repackaged esoteric knowledge, hermetic principles scrubbed clean and dressed up in self-help language so it could be sold at airport bookstores. The core idea, that focused thought and belief can alter material reality, is not new. It is ancient. It shows up in kabbalah, in hermeticism, in gnostic texts, in Eastern mysticism, and (if you’re paying attention) all over Scripture. “Faith the size of a mustard seed can move mountains” is not a metaphor. Or if it is a metaphor, it is a metaphor that also accidentally describes quantum mechanics, which is a weird thing for a book written two thousand years ago to do.

The Part Where Physics Agrees With the Stoned Guy

Here is where it gets uncomfortable for people who like their reality solid and predictable.

Virtual particles. They exist in quantum field theory. They pop in and out of existence constantly, everywhere, all the time. You cannot detect them with your senses. You cannot detect them with machines. But the math proves they’re there. Their effects are measurable even though they themselves are not. Forces that are completely invisible and essentially undetectable are shaping physical reality at the subatomic level every second of every day.

That is what people used to call magic. We just gave it equations and a lab coat.

And then there’s the observer effect, which is the part where physics goes completely off the rails. At the quantum level, particles behave differently depending on whether someone is watching them. Not metaphorically. Not poetically. The act of observation by a conscious being changes the behavior of physical matter. There are physicists (credentialed, published, not-stoned physicists) who believe that the act of sentient beings observing reality is what creates reality itself. That consciousness is not a byproduct of the universe but the mechanism by which it exists. That we are a self-perpetuating reality, dreaming itself into being, and the dream only holds together because enough of us are watching.

Paper money works because millions of people observe it and believe it has value. Cryptocurrency works because millions of people observe it and believe it has value. And the universe itself might work the same way. Enough sentient beings looking at it. Believing in it. Holding it together through the sheer collective force of paying attention.

If that’s true, then every church service, every prayer circle, every stadium full of screaming fans, and every stock exchange trading floor is a magic ritual. The only difference between Wall Street and a black mass is the dress code and the catering.

I Should Probably Stop Writing Now

I am going to be honest. I have no idea if this article is brilliant or if it sounds like a guy who smoked a twenty-year-old joint in his childhood bedroom and started rambling about the nature of reality. Those two things might be the same thing. I genuinely cannot tell right now.

What I can tell you is that I had no idea what to write about today. I came up here to take care of my dad. I found ancient weed. And now here we are, 1,400 words into a discussion about whether the global financial system is technically witchcraft. I am going to make sure this gets published before the high wears off and my editorial judgment returns, because I cannot wait to read this sober and find out if I just wrote something profound or something that belongs on a dorm room whiteboard next to a Bob Marley poster.

You know the story of the boy who cried wolf. A shepherd boy gets bored watching sheep and decides to have some fun at the villagers’ expense. He screams “Wolf! Wolf!” and when the villagers come running with their weapons, they find no wolf. Just a boy laughing at them for being gullible.

He does it again. Same result. The villagers get angry but they go back to their business.

Then one day, a real wolf shows up. The boy screams “Wolf! Wolf!” and nobody comes. They’ve heard it too many times. They don’t believe him anymore. The wolf eats the sheep and probably the boy too, depending on which version you’re reading.

The problem with that fable when applied to economics and politics? There’s not one boy. There are thousands of them. And most of them are getting paid to cry wolf.

For fifty years, the gold investors have been screaming that the dollar is collapsing. Buy gold! Hyperinflation is coming! The end is near! Peter Schiff has been predicting imminent economic apocalypse since the 1990s. Survivalist websites have been selling freeze-dried food and telling you to buy silver since the internet was invented. Every recession gets billed as “the big one.” Every market correction becomes “the crash that will end America.”

And they’ve been wrong. Over and over. For decades.

So when someone like me stands up and says “the economic patterns that preceded Hitler’s rise to power are showing up in America right now,” you have every reason to roll your eyes and scroll past. You’ve heard it before. A thousand times. From people selling gold coins and survival gear and subscriptions to their premium newsletter that will tell you exactly when to buy and sell to get rich off the collapse.

I get it. Warning fatigue is real. The controlled opposition has been crying wolf so long and so loud that nobody can hear the real warnings anymore.

But eventually, the wolf actually showed up. People forget that part of the fable.

Three days ago, Twitter exploded with panic about the dollar collapsing. Gold had just cracked $5,000 per ounce for the first time in history, continuing its parabolic ascent from around $2,000 just two years ago. Financial analysts were using words like “crisis” and “intervention” and “unwinding.”

My readers started messaging me. “Is my money safe?” “Should I buy gold?” “Are we looking at another 2008?”

I spent years working as a financial analyst for wealthy individuals. I saw how they think. How they position. How they don’t react to crises but create them. And what’s happening right now with the dollar, with gold, with Japan, with federal agents killing American citizens in the streets doesn’t look like the fake warnings from the paid shills.

It looks like Weimar Germany. And I don’t say that lightly.

So yeah, I’m crying wolf. And I know you’ve heard it before. But this time, I think the wolf is actually here.

Dollar Weakness and Policy Choices

The U.S. dollar fell over 9% in 2025, its worst annual performance since 2017. The Dollar Index currently sits around 97, a four-month low. The Federal Reserve has been cutting interest rates. Donald Trump has been threatening to fire Fed Chairman Jerome Powell, undermining the independence of America’s central bank. The U.S. just experienced its longest government shutdown in history. Trump unveiled the highest tariffs in decades. He threatened multiple European countries with economic warfare as part of his campaign to seize Greenland.

The mainstream financial press calls this “volatility” or “market adjustment” or “concern about fiscal policy.” They use impressive-sounding economic jargon to make you think this is complicated and nothing to worry about.

Maybe they’re right. Or maybe what we’re witnessing is coordinated policy decisions by people who understand exactly what will happen as a result. The Fed chose to cut rates. Japan chose to raise rates. The U.S. chose to coordinate with Japan on currency intervention. Trump chose to create maximum chaos with tariff threats and institutional attacks.

These are choices, not random market forces. And when you worked in finance like I did, you learn that the people making these choices position themselves ahead of predictable outcomes. They don’t react to crises. They create them. They profit from everyone else’s panic.

The dollar’s decline might be organic market forces. Or it might be a controlled demolition. The pattern suggests the latter.

$500 Billion In Borrowed Money Coming Due

For the last thirty years, investors have been borrowing Japanese yen at essentially zero percent interest and investing that money in higher-yielding assets elsewhere. Mostly U.S. stocks and bonds. Borrow at 0%, invest at 5% or more, pocket the difference. Rinse and repeat. Scale it up with leverage.

Morgan Stanley estimates there’s roughly $500 billion in outstanding yen carry positions still floating around global financial markets.

Both of those assumptions just broke.

In December 2025, the Bank of Japan raised its benchmark interest rate to 0.75%, the highest level in three decades. Governor Kazuo Ueda didn’t sugarcoat it. He made clear that the era of free Japanese money is ending. Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve has been cutting rates, lowering them to a range of 3.50% to 3.75%.

The interest rate differential that made the carry trade profitable is disappearing. Fast.

When a carry trade unwinds, investors have to buy back yen to repay their loans, which strengthens the yen. They have to sell their U.S. assets to raise the cash, which weakens U.S. stocks and bonds. If enough people do it at the same time, you get a cascade. Leveraged positions hit stop losses. Correlations spike. Liquidity evaporates. Prices overshoot.

We already saw a preview of this in August 2024. When the Bank of Japan hiked rates and the carry trade started to unwind, Bitcoin dropped, the stock market dipped, and chaos rippled through global markets. That was a warning shot.

What’s happening now is bigger.

On January 24, 2026, the yen spiked suddenly during U.S. trading hours after traders reported that the Federal Reserve Bank of New York had contacted financial institutions to ask about the yen’s exchange rate. This is called a “rate check.” It’s what central banks do right before they intervene in currency markets.

Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi warned her government is prepared to take steps to prevent “highly abnormal” market moves. Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama said authorities are acting “in close coordination with Washington.”

The U.S. Federal Reserve is coordinating with Japan to intervene in currency markets. The U.S. is potentially helping Japan prop up the yen, which means pushing down the dollar.

The last time the U.S. joined a coordinated effort to intervene in the Japanese currency was March 2011, following the Fukushima earthquake. This is extraordinarily rare. And it’s happening now.

Why?

Fixed Income Recipients In The Blast Radius

A weaker dollar benefits several powerful groups.

First, it benefits the U.S. government. We’re running a $36 trillion national debt that grows by roughly $2 trillion per year. If the dollar loses value, that debt becomes easier to repay. We’re literally inflating away our obligations.

Second, it benefits Corporate America. Companies borrowed trillions at near-zero interest rates during the past decade. If they repay those debts with devalued dollars, they effectively got free money.

Third, it benefits American exporters. A weak dollar makes American goods cheaper for foreign buyers, helping U.S. manufacturers compete with China.

Fourth, it benefits the people who positioned themselves in hard assets years ago. The people who bought gold when it was $1,200 per ounce. The central banks in China, Russia, and BRICS nations who have been stockpiling precious metals while American financial media told you gold was outdated.

Those people are about to get very rich…

The people who get destroyed are different. If you’re on Social Security, you’re getting $1,500 a month or $2,000 a month or whatever your fixed payment is. That number doesn’t change. But what it buys changes dramatically. When the dollar was stronger, your $1,500 covered rent, food, medicine, utilities. As the dollar weakens, suddenly that same $1,500 only covers rent and part of your food. Then just rent. Then not even rent.

Your income is locked, fixed, permanent. But your expenses aren’t. They rise with inflation. Every month, your Social Security payment buys less. Every month, you get poorer even though the number on your check stays the same.

Pensioners face the same problem. You worked thirty years. You earned a pension. Let’s say it pays $3,000 a month. Sounds decent. But if we follow the Weimar pattern, that $3,000 might buy what $500 buys today within a few years. You didn’t do anything wrong. You saved. You planned. You did everything right. But you’re denominated in dollars, and dollars are losing value.

People on disability. Veterans benefits. Anyone whose income is set by the government and can’t grow with inflation. You’re in the blast radius.

Savers face the same wealth transfer. You’ve got $50,000 or $100,000 or $500,000 in the bank. You thought you were secure. But if the dollar loses 30% or 50% of its purchasing power, your savings just got cut in half without you spending a dime. The number in your account stays the same. What it can buy does not.

This is a wealth transfer. From fixed income recipients to asset holders. From savers to debtors. From people who played by the rules to people who understood the game was rigged.

In Weimar Germany, pensioners who had worked their entire lives ended up in bread lines. A lifetime of savings could buy a postage stamp. The middle class ceased to exist.

The positioned elite bought entire apartment buildings for pocket change.

History doesn’t repeat but it sure as hell rhymes.

Weimar Germany: The Blueprint For Collapse

Between 1918 and 1923, the German Papiermark experienced one of the most catastrophic currency collapses in human history. By November 1923, the exchange rate had deteriorated from 4.2 marks per dollar to 4.2 trillion marks per dollar.

Most people don’t know Weimar hyperinflation didn’t happen overnight. And the people who saw it coming made fortunes while everyone else was destroyed.

The timeline matters. The parallels to what’s happening now should concern you.

Ten years from hyperinflation to Hitler, with six years of false recovery in between.

And throughout that entire timeline, gold was the constant that preserved and multiplied wealth.

The People Who Saw It Coming Bought Gold

In January 1919, one ounce of gold traded for 170 German marks.

By 1920, during a brief period of stabilization, that same ounce was worth 1,400 marks. An eightfold increase in a single year.

By November 1923, at the peak of hyperinflation, one ounce of gold was worth 87 trillion marks.

Silver followed the same pattern, rising from 12 marks per ounce in January 1919 to 543 billion marks by the end of 1923.

The critical detail most people miss? Gold didn’t just preserve wealth during the Weimar hyperinflation. It multiplied it. Analysis of the data shows that over the five-year period from 1918 to 1923, the price of gold increased 1.8 times more than the rate of monetary inflation.

Right now, we’re seeing something similar. Gold went from $2,000 in early 2023 to $5,100 today. That’s 2.5x in two years. Silver went from around $31 a year ago to $109 today, crossing $100 for the first time in history. That’s 3.5x in one year.

The pattern matches Weimar’s early phase. The question is whether this is 1920 (early stage, more room to run) or 1923 (late stage, about to crash).

People who had the foresight to convert their marks into gold in 1919 didn’t just survive the crisis. They became wealthy beyond imagination. At the height of hyperinflation, you could buy an entire apartment building in Berlin for 25 ounces of gold, which was worth about $500 at the time. Commercial real estate in the capital city of a major European nation, purchased for what today wouldn’t even cover a month’s rent in most American cities.

That’s not preservation of wealth. That’s the greatest wealth transfer in modern history.

The winners were the people who understood what was coming and positioned themselves accordingly. Industrial magnates who borrowed heavily and repaid their debts in worthless currency. Foreign investors with access to dollars or pounds. The tiny percentage of Germans who converted their savings to gold or foreign currency before it was too late.

Everyone else was utterly destroyed. A lifetime of savings could buy a postage stamp. Pensioners who had worked their entire lives ended up in bread lines. The bond market collapsed and wiped out anyone holding German government debt.

The middle class ceased to exist.

And that destruction, that economic desperation, that complete collapse of faith in democratic institutions and normal economic order, created the conditions for Hitler’s rise.

Are We In 1920 Or 1923?

Gold was $2,000 per ounce in early 2023. Today it’s $5,100. That’s a 2.5x increase in roughly two years.

In Weimar terms, that’s comparable to the 1919-1920 phase. The early stage. The eightfold increase that happened before the real hyperinflation kicked in.

But is it? Or are we actually in late 1923, with insiders already positioned and retail investors providing the exit liquidity as they panic-buy at the top?

I don’t know. Nobody does. And this is where the boy who cried wolf problem gets really dangerous. Because the gold bugs and doomers have been screaming “buy gold before it’s too late!” for fifty years. They’ve trained an entire generation to ignore warnings about currency collapse because the warnings are always wrong and always self-serving.

So when the real collapse starts, when the actual Weimar pattern shows up, nobody can hear the legitimate warnings through the noise of all the fake ones.

Central banks have been accumulating gold for years. China, Russia, India, the BRICS nations. They’ve been buying when gold was $1,200, $1,500, $1,800 per ounce. They didn’t start buying last week when CNBC started running “Is Gold In A Bubble?” segments.

They positioned early. Just like the winners in Weimar positioned early.

And now retail investors, normies, regular Americans who watch financial news and trust that the system works and believe what they’re told by people in suits, are panic-buying at $5,100 per ounce because Twitter is full of people screaming that the dollar is collapsing.

Insiders buy low. Engineer or accelerate the crisis through policy decisions. Retail panics and buys high. Insiders exit into that panic-buying. Retail holds the bag.

The Peter Schiff types, the gold bugs who have been screaming “buy gold NOW before it’s too late!” for a decade, might be providing exit liquidity for much smarter money.

Gold could hit $10,000 per ounce. This could be 1920, not 1923, with time left to position before the real explosion. But the pattern we’re seeing matches Weimar almost exactly. That should concern you far more than whether gold is a good investment.

In Weimar, the gold question was secondary. The primary question was what kind of government comes to power when economic desperation destroys the middle class.

Federal Agents Killing Citizens

On January 21, 2026, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents shot and killed Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old Italian-American nurse who worked in the ICU at a VA hospital. He had a college degree. No criminal record. He was a U.S. citizen.

ICE killed him anyway.

Video evidence contradicts the official story. Multiple witnesses contradict it. The physical evidence contradicts it.

The parallel nobody wants to talk about - before Hitler came to power, the SA (Sturmabteilung), known as the Brownshirts, operated as a paramilitary force that terrorized political opponents and “undesirables.” They beat people in the streets. They disrupted meetings. They created an atmosphere of fear. The regular German police either looked the other way or actively collaborated.

ICE is operating the same way. Federal agents killing citizens. Official narratives that fall apart under minimal scrutiny. No accountability. The violence escalating. The targets expanding. Today it’s “illegal immigrants.” Tomorrow it’s anyone they decide is a threat.

My article about Alex Pretti got more criticism for the curse words I used than ICE received for killing an American citizen. People are more concerned about propriety than about their government executing citizens in the streets.

That’s Weimar mentality. Prioritizing civility over justice. Accepting state violence if it’s directed at the “right” people. The camps are already being built. The infrastructure for industrial-scale persecution is already in place.

All that’s missing is the crisis that justifies using all of it.

The False Recovery Trap

After the hyperinflation “ended” in 1923 with the new Rentenmark, Germany experienced six years of prosperity. Stock market boomed. Foreign investment flooded in. Berlin became the cultural capital of Europe. The crisis seemed to be over.

Germans rebuilt. They took new jobs. Started businesses. Saved money in the new currency. Bought homes. Invested in the future.

Then it collapsed again in 1929-1933. Harder than before. And the second collapse brought Hitler to power.

The false recovery was worse than the initial crisis because it gave people hope. It made them think the worst was over. When the system collapsed again, the psychological devastation was total. People who had survived one apocalypse and rebuilt only to lose everything a second time were done with democracy. They wanted a strongman who would burn it all down.

They got Hitler…

We might be headed for our own false recovery. The dollar might stabilize. The Fed might declare victory. The stock market might rally. Gold might pull back. Everyone might breathe a sigh of relief.

And then, sometime between 2027 and 2030, it might all collapse again. With a population that’s already been through one crisis, already lost faith in institutions, already primed to accept authoritarian solutions.

That’s when the camps stop being about immigration and start being about anyone who questions the narrative.

The Technocracy Connection

Elon Musk’s grandfather, Joshua Haldeman, was a prominent member of Technocracy Inc., a movement that emerged in the 1930s advocating for governance by scientists and engineers rather than elected politicians.

Haldeman had maps. Detailed plans for a “United Technate” governed by technical experts. Those maps included territories Technocracy Inc. believed should be part of the North American technocratic zone.

Including Greenland. And Venezuela.

Now Trump wants Greenland and just sent U.S. forces to overthrow the Venezuelan government. Elon Musk is the richest man in the world with unprecedented government access.

Coincidence? Or generational planning?

Technocracy was never about democracy or freedom. It was about efficiency and control, replacing messy human politics with algorithmic governance where the smartest people make decisions because they supposedly know better than you.

Elon controls Tesla, SpaceX, Starlink, Neuralink, and X. He has more direct power over communications, space access, and AI development than most nations. He answers to no one except shareholders, and he’s consolidated enough control that even they can’t touch him.

He’s functionally operating as a technocrat. Making decisions that affect billions based on his assessment of technical optimization.

And he’s aligned with a president who has attacked democratic institutions, threatened the Fed chairman, purged oversight, and granted ICE impunity.

This is Gleichschaltung, the Nazi term for “coordination” - aligning all institutions under centralized control. Private companies, government agencies, media, everything coordinated and serving the same master.

The Spiritual Angle

I’ve studied scripture for twenty years. There’s a spiritual dimension to current events that can’t be ignored.

The Book of Revelation talks about a system where no one can buy or sell without the mark. A global economic control grid. Total surveillance. Persecution of believers. The merger of economic power, political power, and spiritual deception.

For two thousand years, Christians have wondered what that system would look like. How could you prevent people from buying or selling? How could you track everyone? How could you enforce compliance?

Now we know. Digital currency. AI surveillance. Social credit systems. Biometric tracking. Financial deplatforming. The technological infrastructure exists. All it needs is the political will to deploy it.

And economic crisis provides that will. “For your safety.” “For security.” “To prevent terrorism.” Whatever excuse works.

Klaus Schwab and the World Economic Forum already announced the plan. “You will own nothing and be happy.” That’s not a prediction. That’s a declaration of intent.

Own nothing. Rent everything. Subscribe to your existence. Everything monitored. Everything controlled. Everything dependent on maintaining good standing with the system.

That’s not capitalism. That’s not socialism. That’s techno-feudalism. A return to serfdom with smartphones.

This requires an economic crisis to justify the transition. The Weimar hyperinflation destroyed the German middle class and made them accept authoritarianism. Our crisis might destroy the American middle class and make us accept technocratic control.

We’re in a spiritual war. The economic warfare is just one front.

Survival Strategies From Weimar

I’m not telling you to buy gold at $5,100 per ounce. Maybe it goes to $10,000. Maybe it crashes back to $3,000. Anyone claiming certainty is lying.

The strategies that worked in Weimar might work now.

Precious Metals - The Historical Hedge

Gold preserved wealth in Weimar. But not everyone could afford gold. Silver worked too. The key was having SOMETHING other than currency.

Today, silver just crossed $109 per ounce after hitting $100 for the first time in history. A year ago it was around $31. Gold is at $5,100. Silver’s parabolic rally means it’s less accessible than it was even months ago, but it’s still cheaper than gold on a per-ounce basis.

Buy from local coin shops, cash transactions, no paper trail. Small denominations matter. You can’t buy groceries with a $5,100 gold coin. You CAN potentially trade silver coins if things get bad.

The question is whether silver at $109 is the beginning of the Weimar-style explosion (when it went from 12 marks to 543 billion marks) or whether it’s already late and about to crash. Nobody knows.

Copper might be worth considering too. Industrial metal. Essential for infrastructure. Cheaper than silver or gold. Easier to accumulate in quantity. Might not spike like precious metals but might hold value better than dollars.

Cryptocurrency - The Digital Wildcard

Bitcoin survived the August 2024 carry trade unwind crash. It recovered. It’s volatile as hell but it’s not tied to any single government’s currency. That’s both its strength and its risk.

If you already have crypto, maybe keep it. If you don’t, this might not be the time to jump in. Crypto can crash 50% overnight. It’s not a safe haven for people who can’t afford to lose money.

But it’s also not controlled by central banks. If we’re headed for currency collapse and capital controls, having SOME assets outside the traditional financial system might matter.

Food and Medicine - The Unglamorous Essentials

In Weimar, people who stockpiled food before hyperinflation hit survived better than people with cash. Prices doubled every month. If you could buy six months of rice, beans, canned goods, and essentials before the spike, you effectively got a 90% discount.

Buy non-perishables with long shelf lives - rice, beans, canned vegetables, pasta, salt, sugar, coffee, things you’ll use anyway. If inflation hits, you just saved money. If it doesn’t, you eat what you stored.

Medicine if you need it. Get prescriptions filled early if you can. Stock up on over-the-counter stuff you use regularly.

Barter Goods - Currency Alternatives

In currency collapses, people trade for alcohol, tobacco, batteries, tools, and skills - things people need that they can’t get easily.

If you have $500 and you’re worried about the dollar, you could buy tobacco products (if you’re in a state where they’re taxed heavily), alcohol in quantity, batteries, basic tools, first aid supplies. Not for you necessarily. For trade if the system breaks.

Skills Over Savings

What you know matters more than what you have when currency fails. Can you fix things? Grow food? Teach? Build? Heal? Cook? Those skills have value in any economy.

If you’re on Social Security and watching your purchasing power decline, learning a skill that someone would trade food for might matter more than trying to play the gold market.

Community and Networks

The people who survived Weimar weren’t always the ones with the most gold. They were often the ones with strong community ties. People who helped each other. Shared resources. Looked out for each other.

Know your neighbors. Find people you trust. Build relationships now while things are still relatively stable. If the crisis comes, those relationships might be what keeps you fed and safe.

The Timing Question

You probably have some time. Even in Weimar, the uncomfortable inflation phase lasted two years before hyperinflation hit. You don’t need to panic. But you also don’t want to wait until everyone else is panicking.

Convert a small portion of savings to hard assets. Not all. Not even most. But enough that if the dollar loses 50% of its purchasing power, you’ve got something that didn’t.

Stockpile essentials gradually. $50 a month adds up. After a year, you’ve got $600 worth of food and supplies. If prices double, you just made 100% return on investment by buying groceries early.

What NOT To Do

Don’t panic and put everything into one asset. Don’t buy gold at $5,100 if it means you can’t pay rent. Don’t invest money you can’t afford to lose in crypto. Don’t stockpile so much food you can’t use it before it expires.

Diversify with a little silver, some stored food, maybe some barter goods, but keep most of your money liquid for immediate needs. Make smart preparations without gambling your survival on being right about timing.

The Reality

If the dollar really collapses Weimar-style, people on fixed income are in the blast radius. Full protection is impossible. Soften the blow with assets that aren’t dollars, stored food, useful skills, and community connections.

Don’t try to get rich off the collapse. Try not to starve during it.

Most didn’t survive. But they remained human.

You’re going to have to choose. Probably sooner than you think. Between economic anxiety and principles. Between personal security and your neighbor’s rights. Between comfortable lies and uncomfortable truth.

But eventually, the wolf shows up. And when it does, the villagers who stopped listening because they’d heard too many false alarms are the ones who get eaten.

The pattern is clear. The warning signs are everywhere. Whether you believe this particular warning is up to you. But I’m not selling you anything except the truth as I see it based on the historical data.

The wolf might not be here yet. Or it might already be in the village.

The insurance company that had faithfully collected premiums for decades suddenly decided the surgery she needed was “experimental.” What followed was orderly financial execution. Years of treatments. Surgeries. Medications imported from Japan. Bills delivered with bureaucratic calm.

Over five years, nearly three million dollars was drained away. Assets were sold. Savings evaporated. The half-million dollar, Victorian-mansion on the hill was sold for a double-wide trailer.

This story is often framed as the system failing them. That framing is dishonest. The system did not fail. It worked exactly as designed.

If the purpose of our economic order were prosperity or stability, the average person would earn a strong wage. People with money spend money. They support local businesses. They stabilize communities. This is not radical theory. It is basic economics. The reason it does not happen is simple. Prosperity is not the goal.

Trickle down economics was always a bedtime story for adults who wanted to believe power was benevolent. Wealth does not trickle down. It is extracted upward. All wealth is generated by labor. Not by executives. Not by boards. Not by hedge funds. Labor creates value. Ownership captures it. That arrangement exists to preserve hierarchy, not efficiency.

To maintain this order, attention must be continuously diverted. The public is pushed into endless cultural trench warfare while the economic machinery remains untouched. People are trained to scream at each other about pronouns, drag shows, bathroom policies, vaccine loyalty, flags, statues, and whether kids on food stamps are freeloaders. Meanwhile politicians on both sides quietly serve the same billionaire donors, the same banks, the same defense contractors, and the same international think tanks.

From at least November 2016 to November 2023, Hubei Aoks sold and imported to the United States 11 kilograms of fentanyl precursors, capable of producing millions of fentanyl pills, along with two kilograms of xylazine—just one example of Chinese companies directly supplying the American market with the raw materials for this deadly drug.

If the goal is genuinely to stem the flow of fentanyl into the United States, why deploy a massive naval force to Venezuela rather than focus diplomatic and economic pressure on China, the primary source of the crisis? The disconnect between the stated objective and the chosen target suggests alternative motives may be at play.

Venezuela's Military Capabilities: Outgunned but Not Defenseless

While Venezuela is clearly outmatched by U.S. military capabilities, dismissing its defensive potential entirely would be a mistake.
