Kirk never seemed to me like a fair-weather political activist. I would have relished to watch the future of this man as he further developed his political acumen.

There are a number of things I find problematic here. First and foremost, the pretty broad implication that if one doesn't show the necessary grief, that they are leftists celebrating (us vs them). What constitutes necessary grief? There is nothing that shows grief which is consistent for every person, and so it falls into a identity politic structure where because you are labeled as being falsely in such a group (implication), you don't have a right to speech. That itself is quite troubling because that is Maoist rhetoric structure.
That aside, the man was responsible for an ever growing number of misleading falsehoods which the Brooking's institute had brought to his and the publics attention for his podcast. When the law is incapable of non-violent conflict resolution because it has been skewed and warped for one sides benefit, then the brass verdict is all that is left and this is understood by rational people, and when such horrible things happen; that is more a sign of the times and of the existing state of the systems of our republic than any individual choice. When your primary profession is manipulating others, misleading, and polarizing, and you do so using omission, falsehoods, psychological blindspots and sophisticated sophisms and rhetoric, you don't have a right to use such techniques or induce harm on the vulnerable.

I never was much into Kirk previously but I have been watching some of his debates and it became evidently clear why he was taken out. There are a number of things I find problematic here. First and foremost, the pretty broad implication that if one doesn't show the necessary grief, that they are leftists celebrating (us vs them). What constitutes necessary grief? There is nothing that shows grief which is consistent for every person, and so it falls into a identity politic structure where because you are labeled as being falsely in such a group (implication), you don't have a right to speech. That itself is quite troubling because that is Maoist rhetoric structure.
That aside, the man was responsible for an ever growing number of misleading falsehoods which the Brooking's institute had brought to his and the publics attention for his podcast. These falsehoods were being peddled on unsuspecting college students and others, and he continued doing so willfully even after disclosure.
When the law is incapable of non-violent conflict resolution because it has been skewed and warped for one sides benefit, then the brass verdict is all that is left and this is understood by rational people, and when such horrible things happen; that is more a sign of the times and of the existing state of the systems of our republic than any individual choice. Once might be a fluke of a deranged person, but there have been many such incidents in recent years. Enough to discern a trend.
There is a fine nuance regarding violence against evil that is important to keep in mind which seems to be coming back to the forefront recently.
Evil 'people' are people who have willfully blinded themselves to the consequences of their evil acts and they continue performing such acts willfully and repeatedly until someone forcefully stops them. They do not change their behavior, even when they are told 'they discard and don't listen' still doing so.
There is no arguing with evil, the only thing left capable of stopping evil is killing evil and this should never be done lightly. This happened with the Nazi's in WW2, and as a country we did what needed to be done then.
If one becomes a truly evil person, which necessarily requires many repeated self-violations choices to willfully ignore destructive consequences, stopping them from harming others surely isn't evil. I'm in no position to judge the individual merits of this loss, but I understand these dynamics quite well.
Evil trends towards disunity and destruction, and evil actions have eventual consequences. When your primary profession is manipulating others, misleading, and polarizing, and you do so using omission, falsehoods, psychological blindspots and sophisticated sophisms and rhetoric, you don't have a right to use such techniques or induce harm on the vulnerable.
So to be clear this isn't about free speech, its about the actions intended to induce harm in others, of which very little is known beyond what the media wants us to know and we know the media lies regularly with their "fair and balanced" news being a "threat to our democracy" as Deadspin so creatively showed in their Sinclair exposre (https://youtu.be/_fHfgU8oMSo).
The dominant forms of industry and media sharing of false information for the purposes of inducing reactions and manipulating the vulnerable public has now long gone unpunished, and the people responsible for reigning these entities in have long violated their oaths through a combination of inaction and front-of-line blocking corrupting and caustically destroying the systems they swore to protect.
While life should always be cherished and move towards the future, and violence isn't a justifiable act, it can be expected given the existential consequences of letting destruction/evil grow unchecked.
There is a point where the propagation of falsehoods on the vulnerable becomes an existential threat, and I believe we have reached that point unfortunately.
Everyone knows that their actions will have consequences, and few consider that those consequences may be quite extreme if there is no alternative recourse because the systems of organization involved have degraded to the point where the system defends such immoral and destructive acts.
People are ultimately accountable for their actions and choices. Brass verdicts typically happen when justice fails in its obligations. Its not something anyone wants because when they happen it shows where the environment currently is at, and the chaos that inevitably follows with negative or disadvantaged consequences for all in a zero-sum battle of good vs evil where anything can happen and the only victor in such conflicts are the ones that survive long-term.
Rhetoric that paints a rose-tinted view of people post-humously is harmful rhetoric because it nullifies and absolves the harms they caused. People are complex, its important to to take both the good with the bad before painting the person as a hero in remembrance, and discerning whether they actually deserve remembrance.
The Brookings Institute is hardly some neutral watchdog - it has a long history of carrying water for the people in power. When you have to fall back on “fact-checker” websites to prop up your argument, that in itself is a red flag. Snopes, for example, literally started as a husband-and-wife blog, and we’re supposed to treat them as the final arbiters of truth? Come on. Do you honestly trust a couple of bloggers or a Beltway think tank to tell you what to believe?
The objective facts are the only thing that cut through the many falsehoods people believe prior to the extended destructive consequences of such induced hallucinations leading to poor outcomes.
If one regularly not only fails to have supportive facts, but rather ignores or twists them to the point of falsehood for the purpose of deception then that shows there is a problem with credibility which is the all important indicator when dealing with vipers, deceivers, and liars bent on growing evil and destruction.
Any person's action's are for some potential benefit, and when that benefit only results in destruction its not hard to infer general intent supported by the presence of gross negligence.
Referring to many actual violations of the facts is not a red-flag in any way. The Brooking's institute has been around since 1916, and people individually vet their reports just as much as they vet the media.
