Great article- I didn’t expect it to be so good!!!

Butternut Saskatoon? Where did you get that name from? Butternuts are trees, and a delicious squash. Saskatoons are my favorite berries, and of course a lovely prairie city.

Never seen those two nouns put together. Would love to hear the story.

Wow! Great story and lesson. Love the lesson and reminder that everyone we meet may need just a moment of really being seen in the moment. Thank you. 😊

The story doesn’t rely on spectacle or grand moral declarations. Instead, it shows how dignity, attention, and consistency—offered without expectation of recognition—can reshape an environment over time. Marcus Williams doesn’t try to lead, persuade, or correct anyone. He simply chooses to see people, again and again, in moments when they feel most invisible.

Thank you for your pieces.

Great story!! Lily Rose… what a great name! She’s a keeper W.W… she tells you like it is and is refreshingly forthcoming. She’s right! Why engage with people who probably actually ENJOY making the Christian mad and engage in harassment?? Life’s too short! God will deal with them later. I learned a long time ago I can’t change anyone’s heart or behavior… only God can… so I don’t try. If I’m asked an honest question I’ll do my best to give an honest answer. If someone wants to rag on me or argue for the sake of arguing… IGNORE.

On a different note… my wife’s a retired nurse practitioner. At her hospital it was a black older woman who worked the night shift and was also a janitor. She made everyone light up when she was around, because she was full of The Light. Her specialty was also bringing in periodically home made grits, or beans and rice or other Southern dishes for the night shift staff. She was a female “Marcus” in that she knew how to treat patients and staff. There’s an old saying among hospital workers… when you see patients in a hospital you’re usually seeing people at their worst. It always pays to remember that when you’re dealing with them or their families.

I hope the hospital gave him a title, a raise, and put him in HR. Do you know any more followup?

I’ll ask Lily if she knows anything more about this story. The nurse that emailed her this did mention she changed the names because she did not have permission outright from ‘Marcus’ to tell his story but I really wish I had more information. I would love to interview this guy!

And a smattering of comments directly from staff & current & former patients. If his instincts are close to what’s been described, he’s saving lives, as well as enormous hospital costs. Hopefully the account is not an exercise in hagiography. Humans need hope & personal bonds where we feel understood. They work together. But Malcom No Name deserves a lot of gratitude & modeling.

Marcus demonstrates what we all wish we could ; let go of your hurt and mirror the importance of the other.

That’s beautiful. It brought tears to my eyes. We need that sort of love, kindness, and generosity now more than ever. Thank you for lifting up my heart. It’s been a rough day.

Dear Wise Wolf, thank you, thank you for republishing this article. And thank you to Lily for encouraging you to do so. It is so inspiring, heart-warming; a wonderful and unexpected antidote to the stories of horrors perpetrated by humans on other humans, as reported in the press every day. I will aspire to achieve Marcus’s level of humanity. I don’t guarantee success, but it’s certainly something to strive for.

Someone should teach the demons in Family Court this version of Christianity. They think they are 'Christians' even as they destroy the lives of countless children and create generational trauma. Maybe the Family Courts need a janitor like this. I doubt it would make any difference. These words work on people who have both a heart and a Soul humbled by the Power, Majesty, and Love of God - not those who believe THEY are God themselves.

Thank you for sharing this powerful story. It reminded me of an experience from years ago when we were celebrating our daughter’s birthday at a skating rink. I had carefully planned the event, including reserving lockers and a private room. At one point, I went to retrieve something from my purse, only to discover the locker was completely empty. I was horrified.

When I contacted security, the guard claimed it was a mistake and said they thought the purses had been left from the night before. I knew that wasn’t true. I looked him in the eye and, in a calm but firm voice, said, “You are a thief and a liar, and I’m calling the police.” I followed through, reported the incident, and canceled all my cards.

Later, a friend gently suggested that I may have damaged my Christian witness by how I handled it. That comment stayed with me. I prayed and reflected, and the Lord brought to mind Hebrews 12:14, “Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.” That moment shifted something in me. Since then, I've sought not just to be called a Christian, but to truly live as a disciple of Jesus.

Jesus is beautiful, and when His disciples walk in His Spirit, they bring transformation wherever they go, just like the hero in your story. Thank you again for the inspiration. Keep shining His light!

I pray Marcus gets all the love back that he gave to others. Incredible human.

Nice attempt at a Hallmark parable, but you two 'authors' are still circling the drain of your own blind spot. Marcus, if he existed, wasn’t proving your brand of Christianity—he was proving what presence does to a field. One sovereign human being standing in dignity shifts an entire system more than a hundred sermons or internet slap-fights.

You keep packaging kindness as team-flag faith vs. ‘trolls’ and ‘snowflakes.’ That’s your trap. The Universe doesn’t care what label you paste on it. Marcus showed the signal: treat every person as real, and the whole place realigns. No cross, no woke wars, no hashtags required.

Faith isn’t the mascot here. Being is. And until you see that, you’ll keep mistaking propaganda for truth.

With Love, the Lone Wolf
