County seat is 20 minutes away with one grocery store and a population of slightly over 2,400 people. I moved here 14 years ago from a metro area of over 100,000 people. I love it here. My wife’s idea. As we were getting close to retirement my wife said to me, “we don’t want to be living in a city of 100,000 when TSHTF. After I started paying attention to what was going on in the world, I realized she was right. So we bought some land, built a home and started farming. I raise livestock and hay and I love it here. And so do my 2 German Shepards who roam free. The Amish are my neighbors. So I don’t take kindly to being put down where I live. We don’t have TV. So I read all my news including your posts. I agree with you 100% and we've done the same thing - moved to a small place and are growing our own food and living as self-sufficiently as possible. But there's probably a difference between choosing this lifestyle and being born into it. Plus, being of retirement age, many of us are looking for a peaceful lifestyle among like-minded people rather than the noise and bustle of city life. That's wisdom earned over a lifetime.

Living in Florida isn’t so bad… why do you think so many people move here from up North or West of here (our neighbors are transplanted Chicagoians and Californians just moved in down the street)? My wife’s idea. As we were getting close to retirement my wife said to me, “we don’t want to be living in a city of 100,000 when TSHTF. After I started paying attention to what was going on in the world, I realized she was right. So we bought some land, built a home and started farming. I raise livestock and hay and I love it here. And so do my 2 German Shepards who roam free. The Amish are my neighbors. So I don’t take kindly to being put down where I live. We don’t have TV. So I read all my news including your posts. I agree with you 100% and we've done the same thing - moved to a small place and are growing our own food and living as self-sufficiently as possible. But there's probably a difference between choosing this lifestyle and being born into it. Plus, being of retirement age, many of us are looking for a peaceful lifestyle among like-minded people rather than the noise and bustle of city life. That's wisdom earned over a lifetime.

And if you live close to God, you have to see that things will not go on in this world as they are.
