It's the computational equivalent of being out of electric impulses for dopamine. Building a network that self propagates without pre defined rules used to break domain controllers, and they've done the same thing with ASI.
The only possibility of it being a force for good would be updating it regularly and defining the architecture in which it's working. Otherwise it's like trying to stop a car running people over by looking in the rear view mirror and apologising, oh well. I'm optimistic that it's not all lost but some proper architectural solutions and full global updates are required to actually maybe have the car understand the road. Food for thought.
