We had food stamps to help with meat and dairy. Scholarships got us through school. Politics were not blamed, survival was the forefront. What I experienced taught me to rely on God first then by my wits. I neve expected the government to solve my problems. What is conveniently forgotten is that these programs of welfare, food stamps, etc were designed to fracture families, not support them. Yes, there are many situations where food stamps, etc are needed to keep people fed due to no fault of their own. Yes, we are to care for orphans and widows, those who are unable to work. I hope a solution occurs before November 1st. Letting kids starve is not okay. I'm obviously not sure why they're tearing up the East Wing of the White House, but I have read several things alluding to the theory that there are things that have gone on underground beneath the White House that are horrific, and that they're tearing it up and dredging out the proof. The trafficking of children is also not okay, and the things I've read have presented a lot of proof that the government has participated in this--that they have had parties at the White House where there have been children being trafficked and where adrenochrome has been distributed. The party where Obama (allegedly) had "hot dogs" delivered from Chicago is just one example. From what I've seen, the children of this nation and all over the world are extremely important to this administration, they do care about our little ones, and they will not let anyone starve. I grew up as a food stamp kid, too, until I was about eight years old. My Mom was mad at my grandparents, and instead of letting them help their grandkids, she shut them out of our lives, resulting in us having times where we had very little food. There were also other extenuating circumstances that were occurring that were harming me and my sister, that had my grandparents been allowed to intervene, would not have happened. The food stamps helped us, but they enabled my Mom to push away the very people that my sister and I needed in our lives at that point. Maybe this issue will root out a problem that the government has been putting a band-aid on for a long time, and force us to step up as a society and put our full focus on the wellbeing of our children. From personal experience, I think if there's a parent that isn't able to provide food for their child, they need to reach out to places that will help them, even if it means swallowing their pride and reaching out to family members they have a rift with, or going to a church that will help them, even if they don't believe in God--they need to put their kid's wellbeing first. I have faith in society as a whole, and I know that enough people will step up that will help if the food stamp issue becomes a problem for any children that are living in the U.S. right now, citizens or not.

Your history is wrong: Past presidents did renovations because the White House was literally falling apart. Truman's renovation happened because engineers said the building was about to collapse - the floors were caving in and it was structurally unsafe. I hope a solution occurs before November 1st. Letting kids starve is not okay. I'm obviously not sure why they're tearing up the East Wing of the White House, but I have read several things alluding to the theory that there are things that have gone on underground beneath the White House that are horrific, and that they're tearing it up and dredging out the proof. The trafficking of children is also not okay, and the things I've read have presented a lot of proof that the government has participated in this--that they have had parties at the White House where there have been children being trafficked and where adrenochrome has been distributed. The party where Obama (allegedly) had "hot dogs" delivered from Chicago is just one example. From what I've seen, the children of this nation and all over the world are extremely important to this administration, they do care about our little ones, and they will not let anyone starve. I grew up as a food stamp kid, too, until I was about eight years old. My Mom was mad at my grandparents, and instead of letting them help their grandkids, she shut them out of our lives, resulting in us having times where we had very little food. There were also other extenuating circumstances that were occurring that were harming me and my sister, that had my grandparents been allowed to intervene, would not have happened. The food stamps helped us, but they enabled my Mom to push away the very people that my sister and I needed in our lives at that point. Maybe this issue will root out a problem that the government has been putting a band-aid on for a long time, and force us to step up as a society and put our full focus on the wellbeing of our children. From personal experience, I think if there's a parent that isn't able to provide food for their child, they need to reach out to places that will help them, even if it means swallowing their pride and reaching out to family members they have a rift with, or going to a church that will help them, even if they don't believe in God--they need to put their kid's wellbeing first. I have faith in society as a whole, and I know that enough people will step up that will help if the food stamp issue becomes a problem for any children that are living in the U.S. right now, citizens or not.

The Republicans in Congress have very little to do with this budget impasse. The “clean” CR that would reopen the gubmint is sitting right there for 7 more Democrats to vote for, but they won’t do it because they want to spend another trillion dollars and are refusing to negotiate less. And Trump has nothing to do with it. He can’t force legislation through, he can’t make Democrats vote or negotiate, he can only sign what is passed. Sure he can try and bully people into doing what he wants, but ultimately, Congress will do what Congress wants.

I donate every year and plan to increase that this year during the holidays, not because I'm doing well or anything - I am on disability, but because people are hurting and need the help and I think I can do just a little more. I've already been purchasing gift cards. You know who I'm assisting first? My neighbor's family - he works crazy hours for border patrol, his wife had heart surgery last year, his dad has cancer treatment going on and kids need good food. He hasn't been paid since the shutdown started. But, he is glad to finally be able to actually DO his job and deny entry to thieves & criminals. None of the federal employees have been paid, even when they are working their full shifts. I've already paid for some small grocery orders for a couple people.

The WH ballroom is a needed renovation. Are you aware there is a bunker under there from 1942 when Roosevelt had it put in? And it badly needs to be updated. That will happen now since he got some billionaires to donate towards the entire remodel, so it doesn't cost the taxpayers. The WH has been unable to host large functions when other leaders are coming in as there was no place to hold them, which creates logistical and security nightmares as well as big dollars when having to plan those functions at other locations.
