it sounds like they found a way to target people by simply dropping off paid subscribers over a protracted period of time so it looks like paid subscribers are leaving for this article or this reason and that reason when it may not even be that at all, it may be they're just dropping them using an algorithm designed to mask the attack. end result appears to be the same - losing subscribers, but like fraudulent voting issues, people don't notice why only that something is up.

Lol. I just noticed that the dang program CHANGED my double spacing to one space after a period. Arghh. I was trained, back in the day, as an executive secretary. They may control the sites, but they will not control me!
My mother was a touch typist and also adhered to the two spaces after a period rule. But the convention changed in the computer era (I teach English). The original rule was to distinguish between a period and other places mid-sentence where a period might appear (such as "U.S."). Because spacing is an issue taken on by the CPU, I reckon it was seen as less necessary on computer screens with their truetype capabilities (the Olivetti Lexikon was an electric typewriter with proportional spacing possibilities, very clever), but I'm surprised that your choice to use double space is suppressed by the editing software. It's better than it was a few years back, but it still has its quirks.
ha this made me laugh. we should actually have four spaces as it helps reading more quickly each sentence when sentences are appropriately spaced apart as periods are easy to miss on reduced screen sizes.

They put only one space after a period or colon or number. If you look at the page as a whole, it looks like stream of consciousness writing. If you look away for an instant, it's hard to find where you left off in the sea of words. Maybe it's because I grew up in the 50's and 60's, but I can't help but think it was a deliberate, insidious move against modern readers to scramble reading comprehension. It's become so ingrained that the correct-o-spell actually puts a red line if you change it to two spaces. But I refuse to be controlled, so when I copy and paste an article I want to keep, I put two spaces in as I read.

I think the reason you're losing readers/subs is that this content is too scary for most people who just want to live their lives; and because other than writing letters, demonstrating in the streets and showing up at town hall meetings is no ones idea of a good life. I fear for all of us because no matter how we manifest or model or narrate the story it is at its root driven by evil of some kind. Call it what you want but it is fundamentally not made for humans to thrive. The evil is in the overwhelming desire to control EVERYTHING.

unless the subscriber is a monthly, they would just stay on until the end of their subscription and ignore the writer from that point on, but something is odd with how fast they've lost subscribers and the continuing loss - think when that is mapped to standard human behavior the loss of subscribers does not align well to that behavior.

My small suburban community is currently having a 300 acre hyperscale data center being built as I type this. We showed up at the township meetings & tried to stop it. We were told it was already too late, approvals granted, NDA's signed & deal sealed. Every board member voted for it while either ignoring our concerns or flat out, condescendingly told each resident their "concerns" we're based off of "fake social media posts". The township Supervisor laughed down at one neighbors remark that the residents "DO NOT want data centers in our town" and followed with "We love data centers in this town". She was right, we don't, I have yet to talk to one neighbor or person in this town that is in favor of it, so his "We" meant those on the board, those in govt, those that signed the approvals & nda's". It is being built directly next to a small subdivision of lower to middle class homes, mostly residents that have lived here their entire life, raised their kids & finally paid off their home after 30-40 long years. Home values are already decreasing & the Data Center's built has just started. There is currently a petition to recall every single board member, but the damage has already been done. This town prided itself on being a "Lakeside Town" home to the biggest man-made lake in Michigan. I guess we will see if that lake still exists in a couple years
