I’m sorry. I have absolutely struggled with clinical depression and I know how heavy it can feel. Literally weight pressing down on my chest. Difficult to pick a foot up and put it down on the floor. My heart goes out to you.
On another note. Your post made me smile more than a few times. Mostly because I’m on the other side of clinical depression. Sometimes, I believe we need the space and silence and ability to be sad so that we can understand the “whys”. Since you have no money, (I relate), what makes me feel joy for you is your intellect and native humor! My gosh. Try stand up. Sleep all day. Brush your teeth before you head out. When life loses meaning, make it. Who cares if you don’t get a standing ovation? I’m calling for you. (The chicken line was the one that did me in!)
I’m praying for you. You are not alone nor should you be. Keep coming back to community and we will encourage you! What small goal can you make for yourself today?
im glad i could bring some joy to someone on such a dark day for myself. i feel awful. it’s wearing off but i cannot believe half an energy drink set me off this badly. i was seriously contemplating suicide last night as i lay in bed. this is the best my life has been in YEARS so there’s no reason I should be thinking those sort of thoughts. these drinks need to be BANNED.
Vitamin B is really helpful for me. I take twice as much B complex as the directions say. Also get chewable B12 and D3 (not sure if it's D3 or D9 or something).
I've signed up for a couple of paid subscriptions over this last year. Pray it is helping. Where do I go to donate something to you every month? My heart breaks whenever I read your articles.
What do you mean, "this wasn't very good"? I hadn't even gotten to the end of the article to see that comment and I was already punching in to mention what a brilliant piece this was. It is detailed, informative, more helpful and needed than you may be able to imagine. Depression is the the common cold of psychology. I have an (almost) doctorate in clinical psychology, so I feel qualified to say that I really believe that it is all part of the way your exceptionally clever brain works that makes you so sensitive to the suffering of others, cognizant of every possibility of anything that *might* be threatening, and also particularly sensitive to the very ingredients in those horrible (not my opinion alone) energy drinks.
And like others here, thanks for several parts of this article that made me laugh out loud... mostly because I RELATE, and am there myself, more often than I care to admit. Laughter, appropriately, is the best antidote for this disease, as the Bible itself instructs.... next to inviting in Holy Spirit, the Great Comforter, Himself.
thank you. after i published it i actually read it and it was a lot better than i thought while writing it. im just so out of it right now from the chemical crash. i wish i knew what was in that stuff for real. it’s def got something that isn’t on the label in there.
I had a seizure last year about this time. Started having all kinds of bladder issues. My doctor told me to stop drinking coffee. Decaff works okay. So I did that, and amazingly enough, it cut back on the bladder problems, way back. It actually tastes pretty decent and I soon forgot it is caffeine free. I've never been an energy drink fan, or diet sodas either. My one weakness is coca-cola, the real thing, hahaha. I try to keep that down to a dull roar, since all soda is so back for us. So, wise one, stay away from regular coffee, and try to stay away from sodas and energy drinks. Why are our kids just losing their minds these days? Between the stupid phones and stupid drinks and poisoned food, water, and the crap they tell us is just a jet trail, it's a miracle we can even get out of bed in the morning!
Jesus loves you, dude, never forget that. Keep praying to Him. I've praying for you. All you have to do is give it over to Him. He loves you and all you have to do is ask. He's there for you. God bless you! Never give up!
You must read the “ ingredients label” on all packaging period! Plus not all toxic ingredients are on the label! Just guess what those are! This day & time you cannot be careful enough about what you are ingesting!
Just from what I've read in your articles my analysis is your a pretty neat fella. Very intelligent...so many people now can't figure out where a period goes at the end of a sentence...not to mention the lack of a structured sentence in the first place. The road you've chosen is a hard one (I know, I walk somewhat the same path)....certainly not for the faint of heart.
But what I think is this "life" or existence is going really fast (for reasons I can't figure out...could be the Lord)....so my time on this planet is minimal at best....not because of my age...(although that could be a factor) but by the sheer fact that the world is being run (or overrun) by psychopaths....yes, america, yes Europe and yes just about every other country that makes up this ball we spin on. It's been that way since Adam and his counterpart Eve screwed up in the garden.
God said...you idiots "now look at what you've done" ok, ok, I'll just have to curse the whole mess of you and even innocent animals. The animals got the short end of the stick.
So, those of us that have chosen the hard road (God's road) yes, must struggle.....but its worth it...why you ask (and if you didn't I'll tell you anyway) because God said there's an eternity set up for us - and its a good one. All we gotta do is get through this mess. We will-- cause He promised...that we would never be forsaken...personally, I've discovered He's right.
So, let's just trudge on through...and yeah, the one day at a time...its all I can handle and leave the rest to Him. So onward and upward...keep on going...and frankly, judging from what I'm witnessing we ain't got long to wait...not if the humans have any say...and I've been in an institution twice...learned a lot...the ones in there are more sane then the ones walking around out here with us....your not nutty...just a God guy trying to do the right thing? I'm not sure if that has worked...hey, wanna rob a bank? That could work better? Nah....God says no...I'll put you on top of my prayer list!!
I've been there. Recently. Clinical depression. Hopelessness out of nowhere. The Itty bity shitty committee on Crack in my head, problems all the way down.
I have the caffeine sensitivity too. The decade long coke bender didn't make my central nervous system any less sensitive, that's for sure.
18 months of sobreity helps.
I was diagnosed at 15. I spent 33 years trying to manage depression.

Walk the downtown take a virtual tour. I dont have any skin in the game just a warm friendly place for the winter!
I hear you. Manic depression, bipolar disorder, whatever they are calling it these days is quite something. Some of us are just wired this way. I just tell myself "I wanna be happy, but not all the time."
Bro - sorry for the ups and downs but glad you’re using that to put something out. This Substack is touching people.
SN: yep, it’s definitely the caffeine man. I’ve cut mine to an extremely low dose and sometimes don’t even drink at all. These “enhancements” come with a trade off here and there: https://unorthodoxy.substack.com/p/the-case-for-enhancements
I’m a subscriber. As far as I can tell, unless I missed it, you don’t have a way for readers to send one-time contributions. Many have this option, typically worded as “buy me a coffee” (or perhaps decaffeinated coffee!). That would allow subscribers to kick in a few extra $ every now and then, as well as provide non-subscribing readers to make the occasional donation.
It also helps folks like me who can’t commit to a year or even monthly subscription (living on a fixed income), but who could buy a “cup of coffee” occasionally.
I've been drinking coffee for many years and am strongly convinced caffeine and sugar should never be let anywhere near each other. I've never bothered to seek a scientific explanation for this, though.
(Lately I've been avoiding sugar altogether. Miraculously, I'm also angry much less often than before.)

Thank you for the peek at joy. It was needed.

I understand! ..

To me and i'm sure others here would miss your writings! .
You have such a way of bringing everything to life!
You seem like such a genuine caring guy!
Hang in there and know we are here with you for this ride..
I need to share this info about energy drinks with a family member. Always looking for “ the reason”!
Chin up. You’ve got this. Stand up routine …..

Christ finally took it from me.
I had to admit that I needed him first.
Depression bites. No other way to put it. Thanks for the PSA about the energy drinks.
imagine if you hadn't found the motorcycle title, tho
oh gosh i would have been so heated

Just for the reason stated in your title, I find the sense of humor rather ironically amusing to me. TY. I needed that 🤣🤣
