I do seniorcare. I am Canadian. The last home I worked in watched CNN from daybreak until dusk. The home I am in now has Fox on from daybreak until daybreak in the bedroom, country music in the livingroom. Seriously. In Canada we have CBC and CTV. Its all the same brainwashing drivel. CBC and CTV are FAR less insidious than Fox News or even CNN. At least you'll actually get some real information. Thankfully the last time I went home to Canada to visit my folks they were glued to the World Curling Championships instead of the news.

My paid-for home still costs me between $400 and $500 a month in taxes. My paid-for, 25-year-old cars that I drive because new cars are shite, another $100 a month. Everything we eat is taxed. Every piece of clothing. Every service we use. Every essential of life, and even every “luxury.” All taxed one way or another. These so-called “rich” people do not live in the same world.
The difference? They take advantage of a tax code written to allow them avoid paying taxes, and they have accountants and lawyers to facilitate it.
I’m not against people getting rich, gaining wealth. Heck, I have investments that generate some income. That is not the point. All I’m asking is that people, and more importantly corporations, all those with these huge pools of assets, and income streams get taxed equally. Right now, it is laughably easy for these people to mitigate paying taxes, and it is completely legal to do so.

100%. It’s heartbreaking. I go to visit and have to sit there for hours on repeat. I cook, I clean, I knit, I read, I create and I plan events, talk to people by text, I learn another language and do math problems. And they’re numb. This isn’t about me— it’s about what can be done sitting on the rear end or laying in bed.

I don’t live near one set of parents so when I visit I’m all theirs. They choose tv so I sit with them and exercise my mind. It’s about the numbing out. The allowing oneself to not think or notice. My grandmother lived to 101. She knitted for missionaries and listened to hymns — sitting, not numbed out. My grandfather lived to 102. He had dementia. Listened to hymns and sang , sitting, not tv. My grandfather lived to 90. He died with his bible open on his chest. He was ready to meet Jesus. Not numbed out. I spent many years in a nursing home with many lovely people whom I treasured. I worked in a group home for traumatized children…they numbed out at their young age rather than giving them something to live for. I cared lovingly for one parent in her 60’s with dementia and a colostomy for over 10 years. In spite of the cognitive decline she was still a warrior for the Lord because she had spent her alert years steeping in the Word of God — so it was still there in her illness. Another parent is almost crippled after several strokes. He instead chooses tv 10-12 houses a day. He’s mentally stable. He could choose conversation — show interest in his grandchildren, mentor them, reading, painting, puzzles, nature documentaries, listening to an audio Bible or messages about God’s word, sit outside in the sunshine and listen to the birds. I share this so you have healthy context to view my thoughts. My comments and this article are not disparaging to those in the winter season of life, but rather a sorrowful reflection of what we see happening. And hopefully a “poke” to “wake up” before time is no longer. It’s heart breaking to see the apathy that has encroached on our families and our loved ones and we’re fighting hard against it. one of us to an Independent living facility,
and going with us to church!

Paying taxes is a great moral issue . If you know ( and I do I worked in Afghanistan ) where the money is going , and still have to pay taxes anyway to prevent the government from confiscating your home , car , whatever , its a super mafia move . The government / Epstein class took control of this once great country . ( well maybe once great if you do not consider the slaughter of the native Americans , etc)
