I read so often that we should wake up before it's too late. But seldom do I ever read anything about what we should do once we're awake - how we should go about fighting against a system that holds all the power and resources.
It's not like protesting, voting harder or taking up arms will do any good.
The only solution that comes to mind is to exit the system so at least our meager resources aren't contributing to creating our own prison. To bank at credit unions instead of big banks, shop locally, grow as much of our own food as possible and buy from local farmers instead of corporations. To be as self-sufficient as possible and to build communities of like-minded people.
That's the best most practical solution I've heard as a way of protecting ourselves and our communities, and it will definitely reduce gov and corporation influence on us! That'll give them a kick up the jacksy!!

We have a generator though so it's more a case of a much longer power outage using up more fuel than we've got at hand. But you only need to run it a few hours a day to keep freezers "frozen" and take care of your other electricity-requiring tasks. I'd be more concerned if I had to go without running water for a week.

Yea, hear ya. I didn't see those movies however. Trump is at the very least using a body double ( likely 2 or 3). I stopped watching or even listening to him. I think the question is more about cloning, rapid human cloning, & robotoids.

Wise Wolf, Even though I'd like to see that happen, I don't know what good it would truly accomplish. I don't think our government would be cowed by it. The Seniors would arrive in great numbers, gather together, stand together peacefully with their signs. The government isn't going to be scared at the sheer numbers of them because they are old and physically non-threatening, easily handled...or manhandled. . ICE could show up and declare it to be an illegal gathering and start arresting Seniors who don't move fast enough to leave the area, "NOW!!!".... OR bus-loads of younger protestors could arrive, who would then turn violent with their hyped-up attitudes and start fighting with the Seniors. The event could easily become a riot, resulting in a possible blood bath of the Seniors.
We may not be outnumbered, but we are out-gunned since the government on either side of the aisle could pull strings to get the military involved, if it isn't already, by that time.
I am 74 and truly heart-broken at what our country has become. I think we will end up finally fighting the way the colonists did......from the forests, the swamps, the mountains, from anywhere that's difficult to get to. But even then, one bomb dropped by a passing plane could systematically eliminate those mountains and swamps as well as the American citizens who would be fighting back while hiding within them.

I agree with most of it. It is pretty obvious that those in power don't give a damn about any of us. The divide gets greater. Home prices in Brooklyn, NY are edging towards $2,000,000 each. Who can afford that? Corporations and monopolies are killing our economy and the character of this great country. Mom and Pop businesses are no more. Musicians cannot support themselves even if their songs are played 1000's times a day. They only make money selling out stadiums, and they get a small piece of that pie. The rest go to corporations. How much money does one person need? It is more about power and who controls whom?
The only part that I don't agree with is the assisted suicide issue. I understand the concerns. But as a woman who comes from a family history of dementia, I welcome the idea that I can choose that route if it comes to that. Why live out 10 years as a vegetable and cost my family all its savings? I think the nursing home lobbyists are the ones pushing the narrative that assisted suicide is wrong. Most people do not have $200K a year to keep their loved one alive. With our aging generation and people needing to work through retirement age, this is something we need to consider and take seriously. It should be the person's decision.
