Save the analog system -heros! I have a lot in my attik , cant true them away A lot of films and players Och I long to see them again Please help! I cant get it funktion together with my computor
I know I am old fashioned, but I absolutely believe in the value of experiences that produce a physical object. I tell my students (I teach neuroscience), the brain evolved to allow us to do 3 things: generate a perception of what we are experiencing, a sense of meaning of our experiences, and an ability to engage in adaptive behavior. The behavior part is what is lost when we solely rely on digital outcomes. We have nothing to physically interact with.
i had a talk with lily about her new old camera the other day before she shot the promo and told her that once you see how analog recording 'feels' (not just looks but FEELS) you never really want to go back to the digital circus of the modern age. she didn't really understand what I meant until after she started playing around with the medium and now she won't shut up in my DMs about how much she loves VHS lofi aesthetics. lol
i told her to find an old mid-range camcorder a few months back and she could not have found a better one for this project. 14 bucks and those things sell on ebay for 200-300 each so she made out like a bandit on this
Great, now I have to go into my closet and pull that box down from the top of the shelf and re-watch my terrible VHS videos. The other day I was thinking about memories and how pictures, real pictures are a part of that. Back in the day, say 1990, it cost about $12 for film another $12 to develope the 36 pictures, as it was a family vacation thing you got doubles just in case. So $30 for a roll start to finish. When you picked up your film from some drug store and went through the pictures there were only about six that were worth sharing. In today's money I had just spent over $80 for 6 (12 with doubles) fucking pictures. That my friends is freaking commitment. Look at your phone and all those pictures. Now multiply times $8.00. And somewhere in this house is a VHS player that I hope still works. I can hear my wife now as 71 year old me is rummaging through closets and cabinets. "Honey, what the hell are you looking for?" But I will be able to re-live those twelve laps I did driving a NASCAR racecar ( which spelled backwards is racecar).
Completely agree. We need to go back. Ah the joys of editing film with an Exacto blade and physical tape! And actually spinning records you had to carefully blend with the finishing record so there was never any 'dead air.' My husband, an architect, still comments on how thankful he is to have learned it all using a slide ruler on a gigantic table that we had to heft with us every time we moved. Kids are missing out on so much today that would help them better understand the world around them. I only read things on the computer because I have to. I much prefer holding and smelling a book. There's nothing better.
Lily, Sony would be flattered if they knew you had graced their 27-year old product with your image… you’re beautiful! No wonder WW wants you on his channel… brains and beauty… what more can you ask??
Lily Rose! You are even more beautiful than we ever could have imagined. Of course, I knew that a fresh-faced 23-year-old Christian girl had to be pretty lovely. Wolf always insisting that his own look is far less palatable was a clue too, but pretty hilarious.

I also see college age students who are starved for non digital experiences. Once exposed, they are hooked.
I saw the promo earlier and wondered how y'all processed it so it looked like it was on video tape. Joke's on me!
Yes, less digital and more analog, physical things. Pen and paper, photographic film, books, etc.

How COOL is that?! WOW! Enjoy!
Are you sure we cannot just go back to cuneiform? It has great permanence! Especially if fired by the ashes of a civilization....
This is beautiful and YOU are beautiful and that's about all I can add. ;)

The future is local and analog. Real people and real stuff
It's ok to record over Jingle All the Way, Lily. But if you'd taped over Arnold's top documentary, Predator, we'd have words, girl!

Lily, you crack me up - thanks!
I think someone needs a raise. A BIG raise. Tell the WW that I said that you could have a raise: mention my name for raise.
