Regardless of drug crime related crap, this is disgraceful. It might be old, but it shows that the lack of discernment and respect the administration is showing towards all of us, means one day all of us are under threat of displeasing the imperial court.
Rather than provide adequate treatment and care to veterans, and citizens in general, such as having doctors treat addiction and help provide ways to stop it, the policies of government in general regardless of who is in office, is to treat a demand issue by attacking supply only; by treating a spiritual, economic and medical condition with a law enforcement answer only. However, I can't help but note that you left out some pretty significant details. He has several criminal convictions that resulted in his green card being revoked and a removal order issued. Of course, I understand that maybe he deserves some special consideration for his military service and his possibly related addiction/PTSD issues, but at the same time, actions have consequences. If you are a guest in a foreign country and you break their laws, guess what -- you might just have your residence permit revoked. I know this because I am an American immigrant living in Denmark and the same thing would happen to me here if I got in trouble with the law, despite the fact that I have a family here and deporting me would be very sad. Actions have consequences.
The problem I have with so much of the ICE and immigration commentary is that it glosses over the details of complex cases and is geared more towards promoting a particular narrative than it is toward providing understanding of a complicated issue, pulling at the emotional heartstrings instead of appreciating the difficulties and nuances. The Renee Good story is another one -- reasonable people can disagree about whether the officer's use of lethal force was necessary but come on, she created that entire situation by making a series of terrible choices that ultimately led to her death.

Regardless of drug crime related crap, this is disgraceful. It might be old, but it shows that the lack of discernment and respect the administration is showing towards all of us, means one day all of us are under threat of displeasing the imperial court.
Rather than provide adequate treatment and care to veterans, and citizens in general, such as having doctors treat addiction and help provide ways to stop it, the policies of government in general regardless of who is in office, is to treat a demand issue by attacking supply only; by treating a spiritual, economic and medical condition with a law enforcement answer only. That’s part of it, for sure. But it’s not the only part of the equation.

I appreciate you highlighting some problematic cases that definitely deserve attention. Personally, I would support reopening Sae Joon Park's case and consider allowing him to return.
However, I can't help but note that you left out some pretty significant details. He has several criminal convictions that resulted in his green card being revoked and a removal order issued. Of course, I understand that maybe he deserves some special consideration for his military service and his possibly related addiction/PTSD issues, but at the same time, actions have consequences. If you are a guest in a foreign country and you break their laws, guess what -- you might just have your residence permit revoked. I know this because I am an American immigrant living in Denmark and the same thing would happen to me here if I got in trouble with the law, despite the fact that I have a family here and deporting me would be very sad. Actions have consequences.
The problem I have with so much of the ICE and immigration commentary is that it glosses over the details of complex cases and is geared more towards promoting a particular narrative than it is toward providing understanding of a complicated issue, pulling at the emotional heartstrings instead of appreciating the difficulties and nuances. The Renee Good story is another one -- reasonable people can disagree about whether the officer's use of lethal force was necessary but come on, she created that entire situation by making a series of terrible choices that ultimately led to her death.
Let's not pretend this issue is black and white.

Thank you for highlighting this travesty. It makes me sick to my stomach how we treat our veterans under normal times. But this is outrageous. Wise Wolf, please keep investigating this.

The truth is much deeper than what you represent here, and assumes nefarious intentions on her and the administration's part, including ignoring factual and video evidence of Good's tragic and totally avoidable death, caused by hateful rhetoric and paid protesters. All of which are provided by the very people you wish to now agree with and support. I too am interested in understanding the reason's for deporting veterans, and believe that new immigrant legislation needs to provide an expedited path to those who serve honorably. An investigation should start with requesting an investigation from Noem, followed by a public explanation as to what happened and why. This is what I will guarantee you, however, Noem does not see or approve every single deportation, and may not have been aware that any had happened, without cause, at the time of the hearing. Maybe this assumption is wrong, but I at least, am interested in asking the question prior to condemnation.
