That’s bullshit, you people are hypocrites, just because you don’t agree with everything he says? Then don’t read it, BUT STOP TRYING TO HARM HIM! If you’re so afraid of what he says, maybe you should ask yourself Why? What nerve did he hit? Try to learn something. What kind of people are you, just because you don’t agree with what he writes fine, you don’t always have to agree, it’s ok to disagree. Don’t read it BUT Don’t TRY TO DIRTY UP HIS NAME WITH YOUR CHILDISH POST, to try and dirty up his page because you think you’re right and he is wrong. Are you all damn democrats that is what you sound like. Self assuming, self righteous, self absorbed, judgmental , self righteous biased, hateful unkind, shameful fools. Shame on you, turn the page, but Stop trying to silencing people’s voices like a communist does! All because you don’t agree with what he writes really people ! Just a note about commenters bringing politics and casting aspersions on others who comment here. Jesus believed in freedom of speech and had little tolerance for politicians. That being said, the commenter who called Democrats “damned” needs to know that most Democrats wish the very best for everyone to achieve their goals of happiness, good fortune, love, and peace. The fight against a repressive Regime is for everyone’s rights. Freedom of speech and Freedom of self-determination, are for everyone in this Country, no matter their color. And I am sure Jesus was not “white”. I do not wish to hamper anyone’s freedom of Speech and would expect that mine not be interfered with as well. The Minister can defend himself, if need be, but would, I hope, see that most people who comment here do not intend harm and are probably of different political persuasions - that is what makes America Great - not impinging on others’ Rights, but celebrating them - as long as they do not mean any harm. Wise Wolf, you bring good and interesting insights and I will continue to read and comment without the politics because this place needs to be a place of refuge from Hate Speech and Rights Restrictions. It is a place of Love and Peace and Loving thy Neighbor.

Now here is a word to the Wise, Wolf that is and Lilly Thank You for bringing us Good cheer and most definitely food for thought. Merry Christmas and Happy New Years to all.

Ok folks the sand bags are holding and the water is rising and the rains have not given a inch it’s more like several. Here in California one has to look at the bright side at least we will have plenty of water in the Santa Ynez reservoir, just hope the Gov and Mayor do not try and take credit for filling them. Seriously folks it was just a year ago we had the Palisades and Eaton Fires. We could definitely use prayers as the burn areas without sufficient ground cover loose their porosity which could become unstable much like we had in Montecito after the Thomas fire. Thanks Again and may God Bless All.

I am talking about any person being allowed to speak, freedom of speech does not mean things you like to hear or even believe. Speech is you saying what you feel, and not being silenced because someone else doesn’t like it or believe it. That is what I am talking about, what you’re saying makes no sense to me Klaus.

Well, I wonder if you’re actually talking to me or whether you’re talking to the smart guy that opened up the discussion down in New York where I worked part time of my life I worked seven years in Manhattan and Westchester County and I got to tell you they were the 25 most interesting and challenging years of my life.

But when some guy wanted to get in somebody else’s face, he would say “hey you talking to me?!!“. Well, if you’re talking to me, I’ll take it as a compliment, but there’s one other thing I have to do to spoil everybody’s holiday season. I’ve gotta tell you the truth about eternal life. This is a difficult as parents talking about sex when they get to be a 12 or 13. You and I do not have an immortal soul we are we are a soul that’s never fashion. That’s the same thing as the animals so just like Rover when we die. We’re dead all over. We have no consciousness and thank God for that after living a life of difficulty why would we want to have be floating around somewhere in heaven, looking down at all the shit and crap that our children are getting into?

No, even the apostle Paul tells you that in his own words he says that wow first Corinthians I think it is this immortal must put on immortality if you’re already wearing immortality or you have it why do you have to put it on? Did you take it off when you die for a while?

Also, the apostle Paul talks about running the race and and he says that for me there’s I’ve run the race you know and the details you follow that, but it says they’re less laid up for me in heaven, a crown of life not you only put those who also believe so immortality is something that’s stored in heaven for us at a time and we’ll get it when Christ returns and by the way he’s returning to the Earth and we’re gonna be with them always, so we’re probably gonna be part of the army that has to clean up the mess of humanity in preparation for 1000 years right on earth of Christ and eventually which the eighth day of the festival of so-called shelter or tabernacles pictures is when the father in Christ set up the new Jerusalem when there’s a new having a new earth and apparently the new Jerusalem, which is pretty big place if you look at the statistics 12 1200 miles on a side he’s going to be on the new earth so there’s more to come so if you’re interested in it you can you can find me we could talk about it. Most people are just gonna go. Oh this guy is crazy.

That’s one of my most endearing qualities :-)

Reading this article made me realize Jesus’ story is way more complex than the usual Christmas cards show...

From political threats to family struggles and childhood life, it’s much more real.

What stood out is that Christmas isn’t just about the birth, it’s a reminder to be patient and kind to others, which feels really meaningful.

First, I want to thank you for a well written and inspirational article. 95% I already knew from my study of the Bible and church history, with the exception of the Thomas’ “infancy gospel.” Given it what 100% rejected by the early church, I would not have included it, but when I write I don’t have to be ”fair and balanced” (lol). Yet, your focus on Christmas being about God coming to earth in the body of the incarnate Jesus the Christ and being mankind’s only hope, is appreciated. Your article refocuses our attention back on Christ, which Christmas is truly about, while providing some historical nuggets many may not have been aware. For this, I thank you. As I close, I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas!

Well, you added more historical context and truth to the story of the nativity and I’ve seen anybody publicly do.

Congratulations on doing that! And you correctly I believe understood the reason why the church chose to use pagan holidays as a transition vehicle to Christianity the same as true of Easter the same is true of Sunday worship. The same is true of other for adding other festivals than the ones that were biblically established.

The story of there was no room in the end is not true. There was no room in the guest room, which was usually adjacent to or on a different floor from the houses in Bethlehem at the time.

And why was that?

Because Christ was born at a different time of the year, not when the snow was out there because nobody could travel.

He was born at a time when everybody to a great degree would be coming to their cities of origin and in this case to Jerusalem, where area where Joseph had his hometown.

Why were they coming? They were coming to keep the annual holy days the fall holiday days the feast of Trump. It’s atonement the seven day feast of shelters are Tabernacle and the last great day.

It’s like going to a family reunion in a city where it’s been decided to go for whatever reason and you don’t fit in because I’m all the guest rooms in the houses of all your relatives are used.

So what do you do? You don’t go sleep in a bar and you go to a motel six or something. Christ was most likely born around the time of the feast of trumpets so how many lies do we want to absorb and promulgate simply so we can feel good about keeping the season this way.

What if your birthday was three months earlier than when your family decided to keep it?

And it happened to be the birthday of some somebody else who’s what isn’t even a family member and whose practices you didn’t despised.?

Look the pagan holidays are a pig, and all you’ve tried to do is put Christian lipstick on it.

I want I know you want everybody to feel good, but you didn’t take it to the where the logical conclusion of this should be that we should stop keeping pagan festivals in in a way. That’s so-called honors the underlying spirit of the Messiah.

A simple reading of first Corinthians 10 tells you who brought the children of Israel out of East Egypt and if you can’t figure out that it was the pre-incarnate Christ and you think it’s the father then we’ve got a long discussion ahead of us.

That gets another burr under the saddle of a lot of people because they like to think of Jesus is that Sweet, Messiah and and the God of the Old Testament as as the #MIN old father well if I were gonna die for somebody and they were a great ungrateful about it and they didn’t know it was gonna happen and I had to hang around with them for 40 years in the wilderness. I might get a little personally annoyed that’s I think another way you could say peed so I used to believe everything you did. I want her to be a feel good guy about it and then I realized that not keeping the holy days not keeping the Weekly Sabbath not understanding this thing keeps us totally ignorant about the plan of salvation for all of humanity. Those who died before Christ those who weren’t called in this age, those who may not be called for a long time, but everybody’s gonna get their chance for salvation. Jesus himself said nobody could come to the father to me unless the father calls them and the father hasn’t called everybody today.

And people who get mad at this say you’re a second chance or you’re giving people a second chance and I’m saying no I’m not. I’m giving them their first chance and I’m not the one giving it to him it’s God the father so this is where I come down on it. You did half of a good job and I provided you for it

I’m sorry to pour some uncomfortable and unpleasant stuff in your Holladay Punchbowl but the truth is the truth.

Richard.

I left out one important detail as to why so many people were coming to the fall holy days that year in Jerusalem, rather than somewhere else is that Caesar had ordered a census of the entire world.

And people were required to go back to their home towns or their home cities in Jerusalem was a pretty big city compared to other places in what the Roman empire called western Euphrates area.

Look people, it’s time to grow up spiritually!

You had to give up Santa Claus, the Easter bunny, the tooth fairy and flat earth so why don’t you give up fake Christianity? Well intention to attempt to convert a pagan world into followers of the Messiah?

Christ asked a very powerful question. He says when the son of man returns Willie find faith on the Earth and there is a little article I think in front of it and it takes away the idea that any faith any attempt to be a Christian is unacceptable. He said will He find THE faith?

What is the faith it was the face once and for all time delivered to the Saints, which by the way were believers who were converted and baptized and receive the Holy Spirit, not somebody that a whole bunch of bishops get together and decide.

I appreciate the seriousness and depth with which you approach this it’s clear you care deeply about truth, not comfort, and that matters. I also hear the tension you’re pointing to between historical accuracy, theological integrity, and the human tendency to ritualize meaning over time. For me, what’s always been fascinating is how faith lives not only in doctrine, but in how people carry it through imperfect histories, layered traditions, and very human compromises. Sometimes I wonder whether the enduring question isn’t simply which practices are correct, but how much grace we allow for people to encounter the divine at different points along their understanding. Do you think there’s room for both confronting uncomfortable truths and acknowledging the role tradition plays in keeping faith alive across generations?

It boggles my mind Richard. I appreciate your view and struggle with the Christmas holiday too among so many other evil things we are/were accustomed to.

While I agree with most of what you wrote, I don't agree with all of it just like you may not agree with what WW wrote. You did what we all should do... Take any person's word and see how it compares with Biblical truth.

We can only trust what the Bible and Holy Spirit reveals to us. It is personal and different for each of us in our growth. Our perspectives are always changing as we learn.

Thanks Richard for your thoughts and WW for the reminder that although the the birth of Jesus changed the world for all humanity, the history became bloody and evil against Jesus as soon He was born... but wasn't history always so bloody wicked as is now?

I had a different perspective. Jesus was born and evil attacked this "good." God used the king's evil for good and that happens over and over in everything. Our purpose is to win souls for Jesus so if the corrupted holiday does that, then so be it. I know the holiday history now and don't like it or satan claws. I wish I knew when my kids were young but they also know now. Why wasn't it revealed to me sooner? God's timing. He knows our hearts.

I liked how WW explained how the saturnalia holiday may have been replaced to win souls. Probably not IMO but God's plan will be fulfilled either way.

The Nativity is still a symbol for Jesus' birth and attacked by evil.

Genesis 50:20

As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to preserve many people alive.

Well done I think you got it right worldwide did also acknowledge if I recall correctly, cause it’s been a long time since I heard the first version of the explanation that the people who made the changes prioritized getting pagans and unbeliever and completely off the wall, whatever they were emperor worshipers to become trying to worship the living God and Savior Jesus Christ, so I don’t describe false motives to the original people I think it’s unfortunate that Satan used their well intentions to do something that never should be done, which is to pollute the truth, and it would’ve probably sorted itself out through time if governments hadn’t didn’t have a vested interest in having one form of Christianity that was familiar perhaps to them from their pagan roots and provided for more control over the population because that’s what happened when Constantine took over and that’s what happened under the popes and especially when they created the false doctrine of the immortality of the soul now they have total control over the people.

Before that people were saying well I’ve got a terrible life as it is a surf but at least I’m gonna have a chance for a return of life in Christ and once they said all you got a immortal soul well, if you don’t kiss the Catholic churches ring, you’re gonna burn forever and be tortured forever, even though the only sin for under 100 years so there’s a lot of things that went into corrupting the faith once delivered

in fact, the scripture that says when the man Son of Man returns, will he find faith on the Earth actually should read if you’re looked at the Greek when the son of man returns will he find the faith once delivered.

We can make a excuses for it, but the fact is the only time you have to feel bad about it is if you actually believed Satan’s lie that if people aren’t called in this life, they have no hope people don’t understand because they don’t understand the multiple harvest pictured by what they called the Jewish holy days when in fact their God‘s holy days, in fact that God that gave them was the pre-incarnate Christ, which you can prove for currency 10 where Paul says in so many words Jesus was the one that took them out of Egypt oh, but he says, accompanied them OK well he might’ve said, followed them in some translations, but if he followed them who was leading them, there’s not a single controls of evidence that the god of the Old Testament was God, the Father.

So to believe that means the never mentioned God, the father during the Exodus. Was doing all the work and giving the orders and and the other one was performing the miracles and carrying the flashlight at night and the umbrella during the day to keep the sun off I mean come on what do you think about how ridiculous that is you would never want to do more than feel bad for someone who said I love that Sweet Jaaseezzuusss of the New Testament and I don’t like that mean old God, the father of the Old Testament.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply... Just when I think I know something, I realize its very little but get amazed as i discover more.

I get your points, but then I would have to know true history, say about certain churches and their manipulations and we definitely do not get that. However, we know enough. IMHO, If we really trust God and study His word, we will get what God wants us to know. Knowing how evil perverted the truth about Jesus and even changed the Bible can't stop us from knowing God and how He speaks to us through the Bible like it says, it is living word and it is Jesus. I do not understand it but I understand more daily. A lot of mysteries are making more sense now. Like who is the whore of Babylon in Revelation? A certain religious group, the US, the crown? Maybe it is all of them who worship the beast and control what we buy. I don't care but when I need to know, I will. I am sick of looking down rabbit holes at the evils satan does through men because it gets more heinous and never ends and it won't until God ends it. God says focus on what is good and i am thankful.

As far as who led the people out of Egypt, (need Paul's verse to read), but i can assume that God and Jesus were there and God's spirit too, all in some way. Jesus was the word and with God from the beginning. What beginning IDK ours or in the spiritual world. God revealed more when Jesus was born and died. Even His own disciples didn't get it and they were with Him. The disciples got what they needed and when.

The best thing I want to do is live my life and be a good example so people want to know. Sadly as a child people in my church were not good examples but I knew as a child they were not perfect and wrong.

I enjoyed this well written piece that points out the truth about Jesus Christ as revealed in scripture and respectfully addresses some of the other issues that can become divisive to those exceptionally worried about dates and decorations.

My favorite Christmas passage is this one:

Isaiah 9:6-7 (NASB)

“For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us;

And the government will rest on His shoulders;

And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace,

On the throne of David and over his kingdom,

To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness

From then on and forevermore.

The zeal of the LORD of hosts will accomplish this.”

Most of history is written from the perspective of the writer. However, this Christ story tracks. Plus, Jesus was born to experience the entire human experience. From controlling anger to focused ministry. Though Jesus is born from divinity, he is man personified. His life has to be just as messy as ours are today. It's his connection to humanity that creates space for developing a personal relationship with Christ. He understands because he knows what it is to be human.

Who claimed Jesus was a blight on the religious establishment clause in our constitution, but the MANURUGH was not a religious symbol. Crazy, right?

I want you to know something about me, JFYI...how this post effected me. I'm not an emotional person. I'm 6'4" 240, a second degree blackbelt in two style of martial arts, I open carry in public in a cross draw holster and am trained in the use of firearms very well typically shooting 100-200 rounds week out of pistols and rifles. I'm the guy that if someone were to come into Walmart shooting the place up like has happened in the past, would be running towards the gunfire, not away from it.

Well I want you to know, this story had TEARS running down the cheeks of this LION. I was so enthralled by the way you put it all together and the feelings that overcame me reading it that I don't know what else to say except this was a BLESSED story that BLESSED the tears right out of me! I have no idea why it affected me that way, I just know that the feeling that rose up in the spot about the effort of King Herod to murder Yahshua / Jesus, and the other parts just overwhelmed me. Hey there Mr. Wolf,

That was very well said man! I am one of those nut jobs who always gets into trouble in church for asking dumb questions. This season has been such a struggle for me for many reasons. One is when I was a kid my dad whom I love dearly and have the utmost respect for was a drunk. he destroyed presents ,threw trees out the back door and kicked the living crap out of His wife my mom.

Over many years God has healed our relationship and the Night he died we made peace with each other and had the best 20 minutes of our lives , it was a wonder of wonders to behold for sure.

Then the whole manger thing you describe really got to me years ago as I watched all the gay apparel and decked halls with tinsel and dingle balls hanging on dead trees.

I used to love it when my children was small. So any way They way you put it all together in this post has resolved some of my issues and pent up bitterness and anger at this whole thing.

I mean damn they even take a day off in wars for this and then go back to the war the next day even. it just gives me a real confusion. The contrast between lovely homes warm and festive like the hallmark card and the death, pain and suffering that goes on elsewhere.

It is hard for me to celebrate when there is so much pain and suffering going on. But the way you bring it together was real helpful I I just want to thank you for that.

So I will chill for a bit , knowing full well we are in a cosmic war that began long ago way back before the Garden even.

Gird up my loins and get back to the war ,knowing my weapons are not carnal like a 50 cal machine gun. But Mighty through God to pull down strongholds. ...

Oh Merry Christmas Sir! thanks again

And some even making efforts to get me kicked out of a sister church using bold faced lies in violation of the 9th commandment! As as for our weapons not being carnal, well...what is a sword? A modern day equivalent might be the Glock 29 or 30 I carry most every day.
