And yeah, this week was awful. Camp cleanup. Packing stuff away for the fall and winter. I am headed back to my parents house on Monday and then I am going to decide if I am going to go back next semester and get my Master's degree or take that job in LA. I am still apprehensive about going all the way to Cali but the money is really, really good.
L.A… ugh. Lily, how can I say this but boy I spent three years in LA. Living and working in the film industry (art dept. or props)I lived in Woodland Hills. I had to share an apartment with two other people because I couldn’t afford to live on my own. I survived the Wildfires through Topanga Canyon, and then the Santa Anna winds would pick up and spread the fire. And then after the fire came the rain and the rain brought mudslides. And then, I survived two earthquakes. And the Rodney King riots too when the city was under martial law. Not to mention the horrible traffic I cussed like a sailor with a stick shift on a truck I owned. I never made it out of second gear on those horrible freeways. I couldn’t afford the food so I had to buy my food here in AZ and drive it in my truck to CA. I worked on made for TV movies in California, & commercials in Arizona. Insanity. California drove me crazy. WW is right. The cost of living even back in 89-92 when I was there was horrible. The money may be good for you but the stress and the cost of living & the craziness could weigh on you. I wish you could get a good high-paying job, in any other state but California. I’ll be praying for you.

After that experience I lost all respect and belief in the psych profession.

I will never understand this. Anyone who’s had a baby and suffered with post-part I’m depression knows that it’s hard. We all know that the mental health “process” sucks. We ALSO know that millions of mothers experience this and DO NOT MURDER their children. It’s not an excuse. The “insanity” type of defense is meant for people who are so out of touch with reality that they can’t comprehend what they did, or that it was wrong. If (and this is an enormous impossible if) I were to even accidentally hurt my child…. See I can’t even type that awful word… if I had done this I wouldn’t want to breathe again. One time my child had some bad scrapes from a serious bike accident, around age 5. I accidentally put the wrong type of gauze on them. I didn’t realize the difference between the non-stick and the normal. I am not a nurse…. I was a tired mom, with mental health issues, with a child that was so scraped up my husband had to carry him home and help me. So together we cleaned him up, and those pads stuck to the scabs. We had to soak them and pull them off. That hurt. He cried. I cried. My husband cried. My now teenage son doesn’t even remember this but I will never forget those tears on his little face and the fact that my stupid mistake caused it.
Extrapolate that feeling of guilt to the level of permanent wounds… or worse, murder? No. Never. What she did wasn’t insanity, and her reaction to it afterwards is the proof. A good mother would be so overwrought she’d be unable to defend herself.

The evil killer did not struggle against the cops after they caught him. Forgot what he got. Be easy to find the story on YouTube. Another deals with the black Aunt of a little boy and girl. Her sister fausted them on her. Story starts on YouTube the woman was stopped by a cop one night. He tells her to open her car boot. She does and he sees two suitcases in it. A strange smell is coming from them. After the cop opens one he is presented with towels and blankets. Not sure when the evil Aunt tries to flee and she explains it is just dirty laundry. After a bit of digging the man finds the remains of a little boy. He calls for backup. In the other bag was the remains of a little girl. They while still livde were undernourished. The boiy I think died first after being bashed to death for stealing food. His sister was killed sometime later. The aunt got 17 years to life in prison. If they get a plea deal they don't get the death penalty and their sentence can be quite short. About four channels ran the story.

I had post partum psychosis with my third child; never ever did I ever get any ideas to hurt my children!!! I wanted to hurt myself but never thought to hurt a hair on my children. I was hearing voices and had no clue what was happening. This happened in 1995 and my obgyn kept saying it was just baby blues but inside I knew it wasn’t. The previous births I did have the baby blues but they went away. Needless to say it was my gastric doctor who picked up something was wrong. Six months into this illness I went to do an endoscopy and he started asking me questions; that same day he got me an appointment with the best possible person his friend a psychiatrist. These men saved my life. My son is now in his early thirties and just became a dad; don’t let anyone tell you how to feel get help immediately. I was so lucky that I finally found doctors who were on point and didn’t dismiss me. I was put on medication and till today I use it. I had a fourth baby and my wonderful doctors were there to guide me. The final conversation with my doctor was about keeping the pregnancy and he said it was my decision to make. I said I’m so afraid to go through this again and he said that now I was armed with knowledge of what it was I would be fine. He was right!
