They were ordered to pay back the millions they stole.
What did they do? They started committing a different kind of Medicare fraud to the tune of even more millions ($10 million per year at a minimum) in order to pay back the millions they stole. That fraud involved ordering nurses to chart a type of intensive care for patients having been provided when it wasn't.
The CEO drove a new Red mercedes convertible and made over $500,000 a year at the time which is like a million now. Anyway, patients who were truly ill were denied simple medications that helped them but were given the "formulary" medication which was cheaper, as an example, but the CEO and others got paid top dollar.
Now you know one of the stories that involved whistleblowing reports to the State, the U.S. Attorneys Office, US OIG, etc

Corporate begging is so prolific it's now worse than getting approached by someone on the street asking for money. Everywhere one goes there is a corporate beggar asking if you'd like to support this cause or that cause. And every time I just shake my head no and keep walking. Because I know where most of that money is going and I'd be better off just handing it to some random street beggar because at least I know where that money will be spent. The fact that companies pulling down multi-billion dollar profits while asking the same customers who pay dearly for those profits for donations is beyond disgusting. It is shameful on every level. There should be a list of the worst non-profit offenders published each year so people will stop giving to those parasites. And if it is something medical related (i.e. heart, stroke, cancer, lukemia, etc.) giving your money to one of those organizations is akin to throwing it on a bonfire and watching it burn. Because that's exactly what they do to your hard earned money. They burn it. Here's a novel idea. Why not let the trillion dollar pharmaceutical industry give those organizations a part of their billion dollar profits. Since they are the very ones who contribute to so many of the health issues.
Very true. I've said this here before but it bears repeating. I used to work at two homeless shelters, one for single men and the other a "family" . The parent agency was spawned by the local catholic diocese. For every person working the programs in the field, they had a half dozen paper pushers at central office, all of whom made considerably more money than we did. United Way might be the largest charity organization of all. Years ago an investigation revealed that for every dollar donated to United Way, 95 cents of it went to office staff salaries and benefits while a nickel went to the poor and needy. Concomitantly, another investigation busted the CEO of United Way for having a protracted affair with two pretty teenaged sisters (I think he was over 60) spending lavishly on them with donation money for the privilege of plowing them. (fancy clothes, jewelry, 5 star restaurants & hotels, expensive vacations etc.) If I recall right, the slimebag was just wrist tapped for it. I don't know if the slut sisters were prosecuted, my guess is that charges against them were waived for their testimony. American justice (Just-us) in action.
the shelter i used to volunteer at (that i ended up living in when i lost my job briefly) -- the guy who ran it was some hood gangbanger type that was selling drugs to these men and women in the shelter. he'd show up wearing 50 grand worth of gold and diamonds and bring around his 20 year old, big fake tit, stripper blonde bimbo girlfriend and show her off to all the men there on his arm. he drove a bmw some days, other days a brand new sports car. i went up to him one day with the bible in hand, since he claims to be 'christian', and read some passages about ostentatious displays of wealth and thievery in the name of Christ etc and asked how he could be a 'pastor' and have his underlings pushing k2 and fentanyl to the guys in that program and he just looked at me like he wanted to kill me. a few days later, i am walking down the street and three big gangbanger hood type guys roll up on me and start threatening me, telling me to leave town, keep my mouth shut or else, etc. this was in broad daylight in the middle of a busy city street... i took my sig sauer out of my belly holster and put it under the lead guy's jaw and told him that i would blow his brains all over this street and not a single person would care if i did it. his two buddies ran off and left him standing there sweating. guy had probably a foot and 50lbs of muscle on me and was about to piss himself.
thank god he didn't realize my sig sauer was only a realistic pellet gun copy. lol
