I met him in 1970… we married in ‘73. He told me he went to Ft Leonard Wood as a special invitee by his brother in law. He went through basic. He did what he could for this war effort… and because of him, more than a few men made it home. No acknowledgment from the military… but I know, and I’m very proud of him. And those that came back know.
USAF Security Police LE/Military Working Dog Handler. Mid-80s. As someone else said, it was "peacetime" so I'm always reluctant to call myself a vet. Did lose some hearing from dogs barking in a concrete block kennel though. So I got that going for me. Which is nice.

The VA is awful and has harmed all veterans. When the whole truth is exposed regarding what the purpose of the military actually was it will alarm any true patriot! I served from 1978-1982. I'm 67 years old and basically have had my entire life destroyed by the decadence of VA policy and many VA employees. I was in reserves in a tank battalion during Vietnam. We were never called up so I downplay my status as a vet.
