I so agree with you, I had no clue, until I was taught by an amazing true Bible teaching Pastor. Since I learned of all the pagan roots, I stopped all holidaysm except we celebrate Thanksgiving, and I will buy gifts for family at Christmas, and I do put out a Nativity set. I know that Jesus was born in September, the Harvest, not in December. I see no harm in doing that. 90% of the population is asleep to these truths. We do not turn on the porch lights for halloween, we want nothing to do with it, never did like it, always made me feel uneasy.

When the kids come around take this opportunity. Instead of sweets, give them gospel tracks, gospel DVDs for the parents to watch, bible story books, etc. gently teach them that celebrating darkness is dangerous. and hope they come around your place the following year.

This is a great way to pat yourself on the back while not doing anything of substance. If you want to spread the Gospel then go forth and love your neighbor. Build a relationship with him. Don’t do something so impersonal as handing out a tract. That’s just going to the landfill.

Best I've ever seen on the topic, thank you!

We put an abrupt stop to Halloween 35+ years ago when our small children were asking what Holidays were about. We explained Christmas & Thanksgiving & Easter but couldn’t explain Halloween—so I did a deep dive into researching and as Christians, after finding out the roots (although this article is much deeper!) we could not and did not celebrate Halloween ever again. We explained it to our kids clearly. So it became a lights out, family movie night & I am happy to see this tradition continue with our grandchildren. Every year we feel the heaviness spiritually also during this time. Thankful when we hit November!

People that have read through your well built essay and yet vacillate on standing against all paganism including Xmas betray themselves.

Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would have none of my reproof:

For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: They would have none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. (that’s not good folks)

Thanks for sharing. That was very interesting

Read a book by Lew White called "Fossilized Customs" years ago that went into great detail of all the true pagan roots of our holidays.

The word "gospel" comes from the Old English term "gōdspel," which means "good news" or "good story." This is a translation of the Latin "evangelium," derived from the Greek "euangelion," meaning "good news" or "reward for bringing good news.

Sorry, has nothing whatsoever to do with magic, casting spells, etc. The Gospel is the good news of Jesus Christ that you don’t have to live, or die, in your sins as he paid the price for your redemption through his shed blood.

So are the Jehovah's Witnesses right?

I think in this respect yes, they are.

Muy cierto. No es más que idolatría, y un alejamiento a nuestro Creador de los Cielos y la Tierra.

once again a great little history!

Lilly Rose with another decapitation GIF, are they still called GIFS.. so it's wild.

martin luther, old Marvin the Martian nailed 95 theses to the wall in 1517 on this day. And the priests called him a Karen, and suggested he was a homosexual. They love gay rumors in the west.

In Japan they have Samban? I don't remember really, they throw beans at their parents, who are playing Demons. It makes me think they hated Pythagoras, because he didn't like beans. So the demons were probably math teachers. which I find funny. even if wildly speculative and potentially inaccurate

on the baptism, that's a key to ancient mysteries that get you into blocked and cancelled. one theory, long forgotten, Jesus wears a purple robe, because he comes from Phonecia (that's phone + cia if you have trouble spelling). Of course, the really dead and buried myth, is he comes from the island of AIA, sometimes referenced as aeaea where Kirke turned people into pigs if it's the same place.

not that he comes from any of those places he's obviously from Bethel Ham, which could be the Black rock of the cursed Ham. No one knows for sure, but it's hard for me to state my case in public forums. It's a weird time to be alive on 10/31, 31 of course the reverse of 13. 10-13 is the day COLUMBUS (dove, pigeon[eagle]) has landed. what's that really 19 nights later?

Are you saying that all magic is bad? It's true that we have to be aware of the roots of those holidays (holy days) though that doesn't mean magic is bad or inherently evil in itself. Take for example the word 'gospel' which is shortened to mean 'good spell'. Just a thought.

Scripture is pretty clear about magick.

Exodus 22:18 – You shall not suffer a witch to live.

Leviticus 19:26 – You shall not practice divination or soothsaying.

Leviticus 19:31 – Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them.

Leviticus 20:6 – Whoever turns to mediums and spiritists to prostitute himself with them, I will set my face against that person and cut him off from his people.

Deuteronomy 18:10–12 – There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or daughter pass through the fire, or practices divination, or is a soothsayer, or an enchanter, or a witch, or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination to the Lord.

2 Kings 21:6 – And he made his son pass through the fire, and observed times, and used enchantments, and dealt with familiar spirits and wizards.

Isaiah 8:19 – When they say to you, “Seek those who are mediums and wizards who whisper and mutter,” should not a people seek their God?

Isaiah 47:12–14 – Stand now with your enchantments and the multitude of your sorceries, in which you have labored from your youth; perhaps you will be able to succeed, perhaps you will inspire fear. You are wearied with your many counsels. Let them stand forth and save you, those who divide the heavens and gaze at the stars, who at the new moons make known what shall come upon you. Behold, they are like stubble; the fire consumes them.

Micah 5:12 – I will cut off witchcrafts out of your hand, and you shall have no more soothsayers.

Acts 8:9–11 – But there was a certain man, called Simon, who previously practiced sorcery in the city and amazed the people of Samaria, saying that he himself was someone great.

Acts 19:19 – Many of those who had practiced magic brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all.

Galatians 5:19–21 – Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies.

Revelation 21:8 – But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone.

Revelation 22:15 – For outside are dogs, sorcerers, whoremongers, murderers, idolaters, and whoever loves and makes a lie.

You speak English, don't you? There's hidden spells in English, even if you're aware of it or not. Spelling is called spelling for a reason.

🐺The Wise Wolf's avatar

That doesn't mean I practice witchcraft.

Cricket's avatar

I wouldnt respond to any of those New Age/witches/trolls, etc. Not when they are purposely spreading lies and trying to incite anger and arguments. Loved this article.

Teo Toon's avatar

Well. if OTA is correct, you just did.

🐺The Wise Wolf's avatar

Speaking a language does not mean you are practicing witchcraft. If that were the case, everyone that speaks English is going to end up damned. Does that make sense?

Dom 369's avatar

Well, you are practicing spells when you speak English. That's the definition of magic, casting spells.

Sanity's avatar

The simple truth is that magic isn’t real. You have the occasional “witch” but their so called “magic” isn’t efficacious. It’s nothing; which’s begs the question…why are you concerning yourself with nothing?

Junia's avatar

Etymyology of gospel: the old English word “spel” doesn’t mean spell as you are thinking - it means “news” or “story”. So “good news”.

Dom 369's avatar

Thanks for your response. You could say that a story is a kind of spell to influence someone's perception. Like how history is his story, or how news are a way to program people to believe in a certain way or thing.

The ravings of a lunatic. Intention matters, but you seem to have glossed over that.

I have tried to caution people about the dangers of celebrating Halloween. Almost universally, their reply is "but that's not what it means TO ME". As if their own, inner, view, gives legitimacy. But is that what the scriptures (Bible, torah) teach?

no, it isn't.

as 1 example of many, see the command about physical idols. God ordered them to be destroyed and thrown in the community latrine/ dump. He cautioned His people that they must not even covet the materials the idols were made of. often idols were made of, or decorated with, gold or silver. Precious gems might be used for eyes or decorations. If re-use was okay, God could have said something like, "melt down the precious metals, mix in more of the same kind, & make the result into items for Temple use" (or priestly use). People might have justified recycling the metals & gems by saying "i follow Adonai Eloheinu, not that pagan god/goddess; my god is mightier than them, any day."...in other words, "to ME, the stuff is just metal, it has no spiritual effectiveness." but it didn't matter what they thought. The ACTION is what mattered. In the spiritual realm, actions carry weight.

It's origin is pagan alright, very badly but I hardly see people Halloween anymore. Our neighborhood was very paltry and it gets worse every year. But today people see it as just a fun night to relieve stress with the kids and get some candy.
