Be careful about "going back to church". You already gave the reason why when you predicted that only one religion will be approved. The process leading up to that has been ongoing for a very long time. You are better going back to a decent translation of the Bible, studying it and relying on the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth, as we were told in John 16:13.

To be very leery of anyone taking a piece from here and another piece from there and a different piece from somewhere else in order to weave a manipulative narrative. I was blessed to go to retreat with Franciscan’s for about 25 years. Very simple. A true spirit of service. A lot of them were brothers or nuns and had taken vows of poverty. Simple men and women. I’ve been trying to decide on orthodox Church or going back to the Catholic Church. There’s continuity. Homilies are the same as they were 40 years ago. And I do love the retreats. Nuns, for all their bad name are a rip. When I go back if I don’t see that continuity, I will step away again. And thank you.

I am going to go out on a limb and state that God doesn’t care about countries ( just like God doesn’t care about sports). So anyone who thinks our country is doing God’s work, is living a fantasy. Unfortunately some of those people living a fantasy are running the country.
