I left my parents home decades later than you, but I’ve never bought a tv ever, either. Here in the UK, for the BBC, people need to buy a television licence, for which they pay yearly. My spouse and I have now moved in with my ageing in-laws, since both of them have had surgeries and needed our help lately, and they have a licensed tv, but when we had our own home, we were getting constant letters through the mailbox telling us we needed to register for a tv licence and reminding us of the legal repercussions if we didn’t pay for one. They were so incredulous when I replied and told them we didn’t have a tv that they actually had to knock on our door and come in to check we had no television.
I just found it bizarre because I’d seen, and been deeply frustrated by, how much of a timewaster television can be. My parents would flop down on the couch in front of the box after our evening meal, and there they stayed firmly rooted until bedtime.
I remember once when I was about 10, my dad flicking restlessly through the channels, and my mum complaining “there’s nothing even remotely interesting or entertaining on anywhere”. I’d already started to find their tv habit very tiresome, and I said to them, very irritably I’ll admit, “how about you do something else with your evening for a change? Read a book, listen to some of our favourite records, look through some old photos together, find something actually meaningful to do with your evening, rather than being spoonfed so-called news and trashy soap dramas!”.
They just replied “wait until you have to do long days at work, you’ll do exactly the same, we’re too exhausted to do anything that takes any energy or imagination!”. Well, I’m over a decade into my career now, and I’m enjoying relaxing evenings just perfectly without a tv. I dread to think how many hours of their lives my parents spent on that couch, not because there was anything on the tv they really wanted to not miss, but because they’d just let that box keep spoonfeeding them anything to mildly entertain them, rather than actually choosing to do something more edifying with their evenings, even something relatively low energy, like reading a good book, or putting some records on. I was determined I was never going to do what they did, and thankfully my spouse shares my disdain for tv, so we actually have interesting evenings, filled with excellent conversations, great music, and actually doing things of our own accord.

First, thank you for what you do. Second - you are going on my prayer list pronto. It's clear you've had a bullseye on your back and need it. Third - since I'm at the very end of the Boomers and the beginning of GenX, I believe I can say with some knowledge that the generation known for protesting the government and particularly war, appears to have become beholden to the very institutions they despised. Further, they also appear to be unable to think for themselves and believe the so-called 'experts.' I see this again, again, and again - particularly in the church, but everywhere.
These are the folks that got the clot shot and either planked over dead, saw someoneelse plank, or is suffering with life-changing side-effects, yet never would consider questioning the shots! And if someone mentions a connection they double down! It's a head-scratcher for sure.

I saw the note on your personal health issues and wanted to ask you if you’ve ever looked into extended fasts? I have some orthopedic issues I’m working on getting straightened out and stumbled upon this amazingly cool dude named Don Tolman. He’s in his late 70s now and he’s spoken all over about healing through nutrition and fasting. He also has 2 sons who both have fasting centers in Australia. (Tyler Tolman and Thor Tolman) What really blew me away is the story of a young girl Don Tolman worked with who had fallen off a 2 story building. She had to have a spine surgery where they completely sawed her spine across and put titanium in. (They told her they had to “cut function to save function.”) She was paralyzed and in a wheelchair and told she had zero chance of ever walking again, and was suffering while on many meds. She met Don Tolman and then did a 40 day water fast followed by 30-60 days of whole foods…. Well her spine grew back, she walked again, and 2 years later she freakin’ ran a marathon!! Her name is Jennifer Ritchie and there’s an 11 minute video of her on YouTube about it. I’m pretty sure there used to be more online about her but it’s gotten scrubbed.
The other night I watched some testimonials on one of the son’s (Tyler’s) fasting center website and saw a story of a lady with four young kids who had a big pancreatic lesion and was preparing to die when a friend took her to see Tyler Tolman speak. She did I think a 14 day water fast (either 14 or 21 days), and after that her MRI showed no sign of the lesion and she’s completely fine now.

Fasting is not easy, especially an extended fast, but the way I see it - those days are going to pass whether we fast or not, and time is moving quickly, so all of a sudden it’ll be done and it could be life-changing if we’re able to stick with it. Like Jennifer Ritchie, those 40 days could not have been easy, but the entire course of the rest of her life was immensely altered because she persevered for that comparatively short number of days.
I’m actually doing it right now and am on day 7 of a water fast and I’m gonna see how long I can go. (I started an electrolyte powder on day 6 which doesn’t break the fast and it helps replenish minerals which can get depleted and then your body is lacking and feels a little miserable.)
Just throwing this out there as an idea for you because it costs nothing, is completely natural, and as a Christian has way more benefits than just physical when you combine it with praying and getting closer to Jesus in His own sufferings.

I do watch more than i did when younger but i do it with a side eye. If it sounds half true or doesn’t sound right i use my brain and to research.

I also am sorry about your father's mind but I hope his heart is healing well. He's living in the past. Post WWII past. Obviously he did not have a near death experience. Just humor him and help him with his rehab. Speaking from just my experience, my Dad did not change much over the years. He died in 2014 at 88 yrs old. I miss talking to him and hugging him. I had no expectations of him ever changing and so I was not disappointed.

First, thank you for what you do. Second - you are going on my prayer list pronto. It's clear you've had a bullseye on your back and need it. Third - since I'm at the very end of the Boomers and the beginning of GenX, I believe I can say with some knowledge that the generation known for protesting the government and particularly war, appears to have become beholden to the very institutions they despised. Further, they also appear to be unable to think for themselves and believe the so-called 'experts.' I see this again, again, and again - particularly in the church, but everywhere.
These are the folks that got the clot shot and either planked over dead, saw someoneelse plank, or is suffering with life-changing side-effects, yet never would consider questioning the shots! And if someone mentions a connection they double down! It's a head-scratcher for sure.
I also believe that some will never accept and therefore believe in the pure, unadulterated evil that is being exposed. It's simply unbelievable - yet it's true. Again, deny and double down. Perhaps its cognitive dissonance. You aren't alone with your father. My own eyes have seen it repeatedly and I know I can only go so far with them even if the information could save their life.

I saw the note on your personal health issues and wanted to ask you if you’ve ever looked into extended fasts? I have some orthopedic issues I’m working on getting straightened out and stumbled upon this amazingly cool dude named Don Tolman. He’s in his late 70s now and he’s spoken all over about healing through nutrition and fasting. He also has 2 sons who both have fasting centers in Australia. (Tyler Tolman and Thor Tolman) What really blew me away is the story of a young girl Don Tolman worked with who had fallen off a 2 story building. She had to have a spine surgery where they completely sawed her spine across and put titanium in. (They told her they had to “cut function to save function.”) She was paralyzed and in a wheelchair and told she had zero chance of ever walking again, and was suffering while on many meds. She met Don Tolman and then did a 40 day water fast followed by 30-60 days of whole foods…. Well her spine grew back, she walked again, and 2 years later she freakin’ ran a marathon!! Her name is Jennifer Ritchie and there’s an 11 minute video of her on YouTube about it. I’m pretty sure there used to be more online about her but it’s gotten scrubbed.
The other night I watched some testimonials on one of the son’s (Tyler’s) fasting center website and saw a story of a lady with four young kids who had a big pancreatic lesion and was preparing to die when a friend took her to see Tyler Tolman speak. She did I think a 14 day water fast (either 14 or 21 days), and after that her MRI showed no sign of the lesion and she’s completely fine now.
I truly believe God gave our bodies the ability to heal, but this beautiful truth has been hidden from us. It aligns with God’s character that when He wants/asks us to do something, it will *always* be beneficial for us because in His great love and mercy, He is always out for our good.
Fasting is not easy, especially an extended fast, but the way I see it - those days are going to pass whether we fast or not, and time is moving quickly, so all of a sudden it’ll be done and it could be life-changing if we’re able to stick with it. Like Jennifer Ritchie, those 40 days could not have been easy, but the entire course of the rest of her life was immensely altered because she persevered for that comparatively short number of days.
I’m actually doing it right now and am on day 7 of a water fast and I’m gonna see how long I can go. (I started an electrolyte powder on day 6 which doesn’t break the fast and it helps replenish minerals which can get depleted and then your body is lacking and feels a little miserable.)
Just throwing this out there as an idea for you because it costs nothing, is completely natural, and as a Christian has way more benefits than just physical when you combine it with praying and getting closer to Jesus in His own sufferings.
